How do I get sub 15 on 3x3?

Thank the lord, i really need to learn how to make efficient xcrosses. I also found out one of the reasons why I'm not consistent if because I pause to much between pairs in my f2l stage and I use to much inefficient moves and cube rotations. Maybe i should slow down my turning speed and look ahead more

yes. slow-down. work on your look ahead. then work on x-cross. it will only help you by a second or two.

I did try learning roux at one point but completing the last edges just confused the poo out of me. Honestly i'm thinking of just experimenting with the cube and find how I can make an efficient cross or find new ways to pair up f2l pairs something like that.
im slower than you but i still recommend you learn roux because it helps a lot. L6E isn't too hard to learn

ok so, i found my problem. in general during my cross and f2l im turning way to fast that its more difficult for me to look ahead and my cross needs some work

I need help getting sub 15. I am averaging 16-17 seconds now and I have been cubing since the start of 2015. I have been sub 20 for about a month now but I have a hard time getting sub15 solves. I already learned full OLL and PLL.

Splits:
Cross: 3-4 seconds
F2L:6-8 seconds
OLL:2.5-3.5 seconds
PLL:2.5-3.5 seconds

cross. If you average 16-17, with a 3-second cross, you have a problem.

Do slow solves, and try to have move efficient crosses. The solutions will come when you are going slowly and trying new things. I'm sub 12 and never had cross issues because i'm color neutral, but for people that are already fast, the only option is to find more efficient cross solutions.

Hi. I average about 17-18 seconds. I occasionally get 16 and 15 averages but rarely. Here are my splits.

17-18 average
Cross-2.5-3.5
F2l-8.5-11
OLL-2-3
PLL-2-3 (whole last layer 5-6)

so if there are any tips you guys can give it would be much appreciated!! :)

I'm not that fast but I would say, speed up your F2L. Do you need to slow down and work on look ahead? Maybe you just need to work on more efficient F2L and cube rotations. By more efficient F2L I mean F2Ls that are faster (eg I learnt stuff from Cubeologist's video about sledgehammer in F2L) And minimise your cube rotations if any

yeah i know a few algs that are useful for difficult cases but when i get the case on a diff face (i have to do a y rotation) i tend to do it very inefficiently.
so are the other steps okay?

Your cross needs improving. Doing slow solves should help. Also drill your OLLs and PLLs.

Hello, I average 18.xx-19.3xx and I use roux

Splits:
FB: 4-5
SB: 6-7
CMLL: 2-3
LSE: 5

What should I work on?

Thanks :)

Your first block looks like it could be improved a bit. What's your movecount for it like?

Also, you could maybe take a second off LSE, so now is a good time to start completely eliminating pauses after the one between CMLL and LSE. Also, be sure to influence ULUR during EO.

FB movecount is ~9, I aim for <10, on good solves I can do it in ~2.5 seconds. My PBs are 11.00/14.32/16.98/18.68. Just out of interest, how do the times compare to normal deviation?
Thanks for the tips :)

try to do it BLD and be 100% sure you've planned it, don't check it if you can plan it all in inspection, your SB is pretty good, but just turn slower and look ahead here, learn full CMLL and drill algs for it, and LSE just make it smooth and make each subset flow into each other with no pauses in between the transitions between 4a-4b-4c

Well 5 seconds is a lot for 10 moves, so just try turning faster during FB. This might require you to completely plan it in inspection - practise it BLD, using as much inspection as you need.

Your PBs look fairly normal, except I would have thought your Ao12 could be a bit faster. Mine is 3 seconds faster than my global average, at your speed it could be more like 4 seconds. Other than that they look fairly normal for your speed.

I have more or less the same problem, but at sub-20 mark (I wish it was at sub-15). Best case scenario, when my solves go super-fluid and perfect lookahead I can get a high-13 or mid-14 full-step solve but most of the time I cannot get better than 16-17 and my long averages are around 19-21 seconds.

I have found that recording my solves helps a lot to identify my problems but not to get rid of them. It is very enlightening to see how much I paused between F2L pairs (and between cross and 1st F2L pair most obviously) when I thought it had been a fine solve.

But, even if I had close to perfect lookahead I would be doing 13-15 sec solves, which would be great but... how about sub-12 or sub-10? I just have to assume that I'm too slow and inaccurate to reach sub-10 territory. Perhaps I lack the coordination or I'm just too old (45) to get there. I don't have a 13-14 sec solve on cam to be sure, maybe I'm victim of a delusion that I did not pause on those solves but I did, just not as much as in other 17-20 solves I have on cam.

Let's see, a normal, not super-efficient CFOP solve of 65 moves, in 15 seconds is equial to 4.3 TPS. Fast guys are not much more efficient, they don't get sub-10 sec solves because they solve in 50 or less moves, they do it because they execute at 6-7 TPS or higher. Just as an example, my best times for 6-times-sexy-move is around 2 seconds (12 TPS) when many people go easily faster than 1.5 or 1.2. Another example, my fastest timed T-perm is around 1.6 seconds when most fast cubers can sub-1 it.

With all this in mind my conclusion is that, until around sub-15 lookahead is critical (and good planning of cross and maybe even 1st pair, which I'm also pretty bad at). From there on, and clearly around sub-12 to sub-10 or faster, TPS is very, very important. Of course, both are related, as long pauses decrease your TPS but when you are twice as slow as the next guy in your LL that's almost purely a TPS problem (unless recognition is also an issue).

I hope this helps somebody know what to work on. I for one have already assumed that it will be close to impossible for me to reach sub-15 territory but it's fun to keep trying. If you don't agree and think I could reach close to sub-10 at least I'll be glad to post a video of an Ao5 in the solve critique thread and see what else I'm doing wrong apart from sloppy turning and slow TPS that can be fixed even when you are old and slow :)

How should i practice to get my f2l sub 10?
i average 17-18 seconds

cross:2 seconds
f2l: 11-12 seconds
oll: 2-3 seconds
pll: 2-3 seconds

i want to get sub 15 and have been told i need to do my cross+f2l in under 10 secs.

thanks for any help;)
