Thanks ,but I don't really want to take it apart.will it go away after breaking it in?

I actually found the two edge pieces that were locking against each other and had to wait a few days to get a file. By the time I got it the edge piece that was sticking out ended up rounding itself down after some use.

I just got one in the stickerless neon outfit. It looks better than it feels in hand. It's smooth and silent and cuts corners like nobody's business but it's also slow and mushy. The spongy feel is a turnoff for me.

This is out of the box and a few solves. Not sure that I want to mess with it to try to improve it. 20150115_235034.jpg

I've seen people talking about defective Aosus and I've been worrying that this would be the case with mine. Then I thought I just needed to break it in, and then I searched about it and found nearly nothing. I believe I have done around 150 solves with my Aosu since I got it and maybe I should break it in more. So... How many solves should do the trick? And how does a defective one should feel like? Thanks in advance.

Looking at your profile, I'm assuming your new to 4x4. At first when I first got my first 4x4 Aosu, I thought it was horrible. But after trying out my friends shengshou 4x4 I knew that 4x4 hardware was not much developed as 3x3 So keep in mind that 4x4's are not like 3x3's. BTW the aosu is already better then most 4x4's out of the box

I don't think my Aosu is horrible. Thing is (I forgot to mention), I also have a ShengShou 4x4 (v5, I guess) and, after I modded it, it felt... fast. Although not as fluid as the Aosu, it was fast and still is. And I'm worrying about having bought a new (and expensive) 4x4 for nothing.
Well, I also forgot to mention that my Aosu popped a lot, but it was because it was way too loose (I like my cubes loose). Now I comprehend better the development in the 4x4 area. I will have to get used to 4x4 this way, then. Which will not be difficult, considering that I am enjoying 4x4 more than regular 3x3.
Thanks for calming me down. I will just practice now.
Also, is it so obvious that I'm a newb? And I was so proud of my times... (jk)

I feel like the fault of your puzzle is the user, not the design.

I kind of agree with him though. I didn't notice until the Yuxin came out, because the Aosu was the best on the market at the time, but the way the pieces are shaped makes the cube really easy to pop. With the Yuxin the pieces are rounded, so you lessen the chances of a pop being caused by a lock up. With my Aosus, the pieces catch each other far too often when I have them tensioned the way I like (same as my Yuxin), because of how square and blocky they are and they pop/explode because of this.

That is my observation at least. I always pop my Aosus from turning too rough on the outside layers, and even if I don't the inner pieces slide out on their own sometimes. I've never had these problems on my Yuxin, even though it's a naturally catchy puzzle. IMO Yuxin > Aosu and both of those over Mini Aosu, which I didn't like at all.

I have regular and mini aosu, I don't understand how can they feel diferent with almost same pieces XD.

They have the same internal pieces right? (core + white internals)

I have had my Aosu for over 2,000 solves and I've experienced zero pops or lockups.

I fail to see how that's the cube's fault. The cube may not be your personal favorite cube, but you can't say it's a bad cube when you haven't set it up properly.

I literally never said it was the cubes fault. I can say it's a bad cube if I want to, because I'm allowed to have an opinion. I like how my Aosus feel, they're just not for me.

I'm having problems with my aosu

My inner layers are slow and sluggish compared to the outers
I have it on reasonable tensions
I actually had it so loose it exploded so I tightened it.

anyway, the only thing I have in the cube is Maru
but that doesn't last and the inners are still sluggish

the only other lube I have is cubicle weight 3
I already tried lubing the rings and pieces with it before and it was terribly gummy

so I wiped it all out and put maru in.

What should I do?
I've heard weisu soft springs help but I don't have any.

Weight 1 is life.

Weight 1 is life.

Weight 2 + Maru is pretty good too. But the mini aosu is my main:

I use the big and small inside piece of the big aosu and I put in my small aosu piece. (The outside piece)
So my cube is as fast as a regular aosu + it has the perfect 60m, size that I like!

No cubes was wasted. I just exchange the regular aosu and the mini aosu piece between the 2 cores/inside pieces
