I love doing Yau for big puzzles and I've loved ottozing's and Robert Yau's walkthroughs.

When I follow them I'm not color neutral so I make my white and yellow centers, three white tredges, the rest of the centers, another white tredge, 4 middle layer tredges, and I F2L two adjacent ones into place. like this

With straight Yau you would; finish tredge pairing, finish F2L, OLL, PLL.

There seems to be an opportunity at that point to do something different. To finish it like K4. I have all the middle layer tredges so I could just do all the F2L. like this

Do CLL to have guideposts like this

And that's were my skills get really weak. I don't know many good commutators that work on one layer only, I don't know how to orient things a few at a time. Any good suggestions to understand this type of ELL, Good videos? Thanks.

P.S. Would there be any advantage in doing this? The people I've seen who can do K4/K5 knock this step out so fast.

This is how I do K4 on 5x5x5 because I think it's much faster. My best single is 1:03 with this variation and my average is roughly 1:15. I've been calling it YK4. So it means something like Yau-K4, i.e. my "variation" of K4.
