I just looked back at my predictions in this thread (from 2019). I intentionally made some outlandish predictions because I knew how long 10 years was and how insane 2019 was compared to 2009. And yet still, somehow, some of them are wrong just 4 years later. That goes to show how insanely dedicated and skilled cubers are

I think that Gan will become more and more irrelevant (like Dayan) and new companies will take the spotlight. I also predict that at some point clocks will be in higher demand with more models, and will see a rise with the hardware, like how squan did.

I find all those low times predictions (like 0.29 etc) on the 2 x 2 singel quite ridiculous. Have you ever tried to put your hands on the timer, relese it, lift the cube up from the table a few centimetres, and then just drop it without doing any moves and then stop the timer again? I can't do it in that sort if time..
Also remember that the rules says you have to start and stop the timer with both your palms.

Pheonix Patterson has an on cam 0.30 with legal start and stop, on first attempt.

I once tried to drill U R U' R' with legal timer start and stop to get it as fast as possible. The fastest I got was 0.28. If someone with both better skills than me and a better cube than me (I used the Qiyi MS or the rs2m evo, not sure which one) gets a scramble like that in comp, it is definitely possible. Not likely, but possible.

I'll predict that at that time, I will probably have stopped cubing altogether and won't get to see if my predictions were correct because I won't be interested anymore. I also guess that the 3x3 single will probably be a mish-mash of methods like the current one, probably from some CFOP person that is not over 10 years old at the time I'm writing this. There will be a lot more cubers in the future as well and ZB and Roux will be the most used methods of world class cubers.
Those are my thoughts, I'm probably off by quite a bit, but we'll see when time comes.
