Cubing and chess share a lot of similarities. Chess events are governed by FIDE. Lot of cubers do know about chess and do play chess seriously too. Lot of chess players know about cubing, but they don't wish to pursue it as it will affect their chess preparation and will drain them more.

Eventually say in the year 2100, do you guys think cubing and chess will be integrated and recognized as one sport?

Chess is already a well established sport, with speedchess becoming popular in the recent decades. Speedcubing has been existing only for a few decades. Cubing sport is still young. The cool similarity about chess and cubing is how some parallels can be found out in the regulations between both the federations FIDE and WCA. FIDE conducts world championship for all formats and chess variants. It holds official ranking and tournaments and has a big rulebook about weird cases the arbiter should know about in tournament play. Similarly in the WCA, we have the WCA delegate who has to make sure all the guidelines and regulations are followed, and the WCA site holds the ranking and official results. The more you try to study chess game and chess federation, the more parallels you find. And definitely, chess is much older than cubing, so we can only learn from chess bodies, about how to proceed about some cases, like spreading chess/cubing, chess/cubing doping or arbiter/delegate rulebook.

Sadly, but it's the truth. Though I can see in the future that cubing will reach that phase, just need patience and more time. :)

Yes, but I don't think chess will be integrated into the WCA, for obvious reasons.

Well, the World Cube Association defines a twisty puzzle as "a mechanical puzzle operated by twisting groups of pieces".

V Chess does have mechanics.
V Chess is a puzzle.
X Chess is not a mechanical puzzle.
X Chess is not operated by twisting groups of pieces.

Since chess does not fulfill all of the requirements, it cannot be an event in the WCA.
Also, it would be a real pain to "scramble" and it would be terrible for runners, who would now become "walkers".

However, since chess, like cubing, is a "mind sport", cubing (3x3, anyway) could become part of the chess federation.
