Why does everyone hate Pogobat's beginner method tutorial?

Just watched his (2nd) tutorial and I don't think it is too bad if you just want to "get the damn thing solved" for once.

I agree with the comment above that he'd better addes ome links for people that want to get faster or learn differnt methods but apart from that it is OK for what it is: just another absolute beginners method tutorial.

On the other hand:people that manage to find this video should also be able to find other videos if they are interested in solving it faster.

Gives more than enough leads on the very first page.

His tutorial is alright for someone who just want to know how to solve the cube.
For anyone with the slightest intention of getting faster it is just plain crap.

I don't hate his tutorials, just him personally. I hate the way he present himself and how he thinks that he is decent while he is simply not.

now i realized that his tutorial sucks...and i do not use it to teach people how to solve, instead i use keyhole+4LLL as a beginner method for people i teach...

I also teach Keyhole + 4LLL.

I honestly think a big part of the reason his method is so popular now is due to when he posted his original video, there weren't many other videos to learn how to solve. I personally feel that Badmephisto's is better as well, that's why I ended up at this forum!

When you guys say that his video doesn't teach how to solve intuitively, I think that the smart people will see what it does, and the people without much motivation and only want to solve the cube will not care about solving it intuitively. I've shown plenty of friends how to solve, of the group all of the smarter ones realized what each algorithm did (made it real easy for them to remember how to do it), and the ones who had the knowledge but didn't care and only wanted to solve it wouldn't even listen to me trying to explain what each algorithm does.

I don't like his tutorial for two simple reasons.
It doesn't explain nor give the user a freedom of intuitive solving at all.
It's more or less entirely based on "monkey see, monkey do"-mentality and it goes against everything that solving the Rubiks Cube is all about.

Secondly, his method is confusing (it made absolutely no sense what so ever to me when I started on the 3x3) and it makes transitioning to any speedcubing method extremely difficult.
The main reason why I prefer badmephistos beginner mehtod is because it is a derivation of Fridrich and makes it xtremely easy to switch to full F2L if one decides to speedcube.

Dan Browns method is primitive, confusing, makes little to no ense and it goes against entirely intuitive puzzlesolving

As I said in the OOQT...eff it, I forgot what i said.
1)Tyson Mao's beginner method is better.
2)His ways of getting faster was terrible. I was stuck on Sub-1:10 for a year.
3)MMAP saved my life by giving his tutorial on F2L.
4)Dan Brown LIED. He said he was going to make the BEST 4x4 tutorial out there. BULL.S. Rob did a better job. Especially with the 6-edge-pairing.
5)At least even MMAP said to use to break in and then clean it out. He even annotated that he doesn't recommend it anymore.
6)Dan's videos are stupid now, I unsubscribed.
7)Raise your hand if you actually sent him something.
8)He fails at fingertricks. "UHHHHH, DUN USE YOUR WHOLE HAND FOR THE U LAYER. USE YOUR INDEX." Thanks Dan, so why do you keep using your whole hand when doing U R U' L' U R' U' L. Oh sorry, I mean U R Ui Li U Ri Ui L.
8)He asked the people of the Internet to send him a Rubik's Revenge.
9)Pogotribe...sigh. Just no.
10)He believes spaghetti is a god.
11)What pisses me off is that Dan gets a lot of credit FROM READING OFF THE INSTRUCTIONAL BOOKLET and gets an interview and everything. Meanwhile, has Jessica Fridrich and Lars been interviewed LIVE on TV? With an interview.

Sorry for being an A-hole, but just venting anger here. Sorry :3
:fp just :fp
Faceplamin' him or me?

It was more aimed at the amount of explanation needed. Also it would start a religious debate. So lets avoid all that.

Pros:
In the how to get faster video, he taught color neutrality.

Very well known, and has probably created hundreds of cubers.

Cons:
Hard to understand.

Makes it hard to move to other methods.

Slow.

The how to get faster video promotes the use of petroleum based lubricants.

Probably more, but I'm too lazy to list them all.

So now I see...the main deal was that I never thought people taught beginners 4LLL. I thought it was expected that they'd be like "OH CRAP LIKE 16 ALGS LET'S NOT."

...but I'm doing fine...my only transitioning problem is F2L lookahead, which you wouldn't be helped with by any other tutorial. I have had to relearn a lot of things, though.

One Reason. BLUE CROSS. I mean, aren't white pieces better to spot? I don't hate it though, just find it strange. And cross algos? gee...

Blue cross is fine.

I forgot to mention that his 4x4 tutorial is much worse than his 3x3 video. Apparently Lw' U2 Lw is too complicated to apply intuitively and must be memorized as an ag.

And then we get to parity..... :fp Instead of understanding that you only need 2 parity algs (PP, OP), he tells you that you need to learn tons of extremely long algs.

I like dan brown tutorial. And I made it to CFOP easyily enough. I just didnt know a few PLL's that would have helped

Cross color doesn't matter I use a blue cross and I never saw dan browns tutorial until recently.

lol Yu Nakajima(sp?) used/uses blue for cross, as well as many Japanese color scheme users.
