Why did Gan change the piece design for the Gan 16?

not really sure why, but here's the possible reasons imo:
1. They wanted to make a cube that would suit most people so they chose to take some "inspiration" from Moyu and X-Man
2. They were gaining information using those GAN cube testing sites (like SSL and GANCUBE stores in China) and found that the "UFO" center piece design worked well.
3. They got an idea from moyu since their cubes work well for a lot of people (very similar to reason 1.)

To me it feels like they are "Copyrighting" X-man and Moyu designs because they are more reliable or something.

There's been basically no improvement in piece shape since the GTS2 or 3 era. Every design has been tried. Some with the center lip like the weilongs and some without. Some with sharper corners and some without. But all basically the same. Nowadays I think it comes down to feel. Like the Tengyun v1 had a unique feel that hasn't fully been replicated yet.

Yeah I agree. Like my aolong v2 has a center lip or skirt thing and it’s from like 2018. I think the type of plastic has a lot to do with it too. Some companies should go crazy with experimenting on that.

It goes back at least as far as the original weilong from 2013. The overall design is similar but blockier here. The stubby stalks are kinda like the Dayan zhanchi and guhong.

The Moyu HuanYing was their first which was hollow and didn't have that design. What's cool is that it came in many colors. I should pick up this awesome silver version sometime.

that is very neat. Yeah i love those stubby corner stalks. It still fascinates me that moyu made there pieces to still have such a complex shape. very good for anti pop. that hollow cube looks cool. def get it before you regret it. I missed out on a cool lot of blue gtsm's that were on ebay. i can't stop kicking myself about that.

I have a white HuanYing I think. If I had known the silver one existed I would've gotten that. But this cube doesn't have any special value to me. I've promised to myself I won't buy any more cubes until I catalogue my entire current collection.

It’s not “inspiration” or copying, every single company was doing the edge sticky out but in their flagships, that had been a practice since like 2014
