Who's Watching Mars Tonight?

[CitricAcid]

As several of you may know, Mars comes into it's closest fly-by of Earth tonight, (1-27-10) until 2014.

It's going to be a huge red star-looking object in the sky.

Anyone planning on watching for it?

[RainbowBoy]

Is it only seen in specific countries?

[Tyrannous]

theres too much clouds here (as usual )

[CitricAcid]

Oh, and here's the link to where I heard about it:

[RainbowBoy]

It says Wednesday.
It's Thursday here

[CitricAcid]

Ah, I see. Sorry.

For the US It's Wednesday.

[Kevster270]

would you be able to see it in BC canada?? (right above california)

[CitricAcid]

^^ I'm not sure, but probably.

BTW, I just went out and saw it, not anything too amazing. Just a really bright star, basically.

BUT, it's actually supposed to reach it's most visible point on Friday night, so watch then if you really want to see something.

I normally follow this sort of stuff, but I probably won't have a look. I had my chance to appreciate it in August 2003, when earth came the closest to mars since about 50,000 years ago. I think the moon is up anyway, 2014 isn't that far away.

I've been watching it the past few days, and will watch it again tonight. It's pretty cool.

I don't know about Mars, but the moon looks massive in Sheffield tonight.

[iSpinz]

I forgot yesterday, I'll try today.

I know! I can barely see the rest of the sky!

That was an exaggeration
But it's extremely easy to see Mars this evening, and the moon seems much larger and clearer than normal.
