Where do you think WCA World Championships 2029 will be?

I'm assuming this is a joke because Dagestan is in Russia. The WCA is not doing Russian competitions because of the war in Ukraine.
Guess which two countries won't face the same consequences right now? They can be literally be eating babies on TV and face no repercussions.

The main problem with Australia / New Zealand is that they are very far for many people
i feel like hawaii would be objectively optimal since it’s in the middle of the pacific ocean /j

but i don’t think sydney and new zealand are that far from each other, and back in 2019 they had WC in sydney (or was it melbourne? idk)

Worlds has been in Oceania before so it could be there again, it is far but it would make sense to host it there. The area also has a pretty big cubing community.

Worlds was in the USA last year in Seattle, so I don't think it will be in the USA again for a while.

Personally, I think it will be one of these countries: (ordered from most likely to least likely)

but yeah this thread is an actual question
I wish Greece i ould be running to feliks for an autograph!!!

issue is finding a delegate team with experience with big comps/willing to put it on. On paper, Canada is a good candidate (big country, likely has the means, 6th in world by kinch, and isn't in Europe as the World Championships likes to, but doesn't always, change continent each time). However, their biggest competition seems to be just 300 people, quite far away from the 2000 at Seattle and Uppsala. Argentina is a highly rated (#16 in da world) South American country which hosted South American Championships in 2024 with a massive.... 287 competitors. Same issue with Indonesia, Philippines, all these strong cubing countries outside of Europe. If we stay in Europe, Poland is world #3 and is a storied country for cubing, but their largest comp is also only about 300 people. The United Kingdom can handle larger competitions, UK Championship is comfortably 500 people and we host 200+ person comps on the regular. And, in my clearly unbiased opinion, we have one of the best delegate teams going. But the issue is venue - we struggle to secure a venue for a 500 person competition each year, never mind 2000. And before someone suggests London, just know that EVERYTHING in London costs 2-3x as much as it does anywhere else in the UK, so we likely won't be able to afford the rates for a London venue.

I'd like to see it in Poland, Canada or the Philippines though.
The largest spots hall is in the uk in nottingham univeristy so we could maybe be able to host the 2028 euros with about 1000 competiors
