When did Feliks Zemdegs get Sub 30/40?

Don't push yourself.

lolhorrible advice.

Don't try hard. Be complacent with where you are. Don't try to push yourself to be better. Mediocrity is the best.

I realized I just sliced 20 seconds off my average of yesterday. O_O Practice does make perfect O_O

So, in another thread, you said that just by lubing your cube, you shaved 30 secs from your average.
And now, with just 1 day of practice, you've shaved another 20 seconds?

I cut my average of yesterday by 7 seconds. And I am finally color neutral! I just need 13 more seconds.

@ElectricDoodie -

Yeah I used to be sub 1:30 with store bought cube, so I got new DIY(lubed) and got sub 70(2-3 Days ago). I thought that the lube made me faster.
And then I got sub 50(Yesterday).

Now I average 43(Today)

I KNOW I will shave another 10 seconds if I finish 2 Look PLL. I don't use any of those when I solve.

I'm sub 40 now..

But I'm kind of disappointed.. I can't do F2L Fast anymore. Now I have to look ahead or else I get really slow times. Before I never had to look ahead...

And whats bad about that ?
You have improved ! Speed will come by itsself after practicing, if you have a good lookeahead you can be sub 20 even with slow turning (there are several videos on youtube, go ahead and watch them). Im basically in your position right now (sub 30 here), but I have a pretty bad lookahead and turn very fast. As a result I find it very hard to improve.
Definitly keep up with the lookahead !

For me, it's nice to go at a comfortable pace (unfortunately that's a little faster than I can look ahead). So I go slightly slower than comfortable. IMO it's more relaxing and fun than going at high speed and locking up and (this is why my cube died two days ago) exploding.

Solves get stressful at high speed as you panic as you frantically search for pieces due to reduced look ahead...

Short and un opinionated answer: lookahead will make you faster.

I'm buying that off of Zazzle.

Haha screw Look ahead. I just did F2L Practicing with a metronome at faster than my F2L Pace. It makes my average more consistent. :D

How is look ahead slower in any way? Once you see a pair and can comfortably solve it without looking, then try finding other pairs WHILE you're solving. It's very fast lol.

Stefan Huber: sub 15 average while turning slow.
Obviously, he has great lookahead.

qqwref: Sub 20 average very slow turning.
From description of the video:
It's all about lookahead and smooth turning. I hope this motivates some people to work on smoothness - while turning fast is useful for faster times, it's definitely not necessary if you're looking to break the 20 second barrier.

Remember: time = delay + (number of turns / turning speed). If you can get that delay down to nearly zero, you don't need to turn anywhere near as quickly as someone who pauses for an extra half a second between each step - that adds 3 seconds onto your time right there!

I don't mean it that way. From the original post, he sounded as though he was pushing himself way too hard to be like Feliks. Do you honestly think it's a good idea for people to try to be like others? Inspiration is perhaps a good thing, but they'll just get frustrated if they don't happen to achieve the same things as that person.

"I quit this forum. I've found it everything except encouraging. And I thought guitarists were jerks."

I broke the 40 second barrier by checking out F2L algorithms for the long cases I do. :D :D :D
