What is the best way to break in a cube?

[...]yell "YOU WILL BE GOOD" at it every morning.

I forget where I've heard that on these forums... I've tried doing this, but whenever I do, tears start trickling down my cube's eyes.

*clears throat* On topic...

PestVic's tutorial is pretty good.

I've had bad experiences with stretching the center pieces for my storeboughts. When I did that way back on my first storebought, most of the blue center piece broke off :( Everything but the hollow cylinder-like plastic came off.

Bought a second storebought a week later. Was tired of getting lockups, so I tried the mod again. Nothing happened for the first hour or so. But when I practiced my R U R' U' trigger a little while later, the same thing happened to my yellow center piece. I realized then that I either shouldn't do the mod on my storeboughts or I have bad luck with getting good storebought cores.

I would probably just solve it a whole lot, like others have said. It'll get rid of very small bumps/pieces of plastic that make contact with other pieces. Other than that, I'm not trying anything new.

Hmm, have you tried turning faces rapidly?

He could also try a silicon based lubricant.
I got a HUGE can for like $5 (CAD) at my local hardware shop, and I've only had to do my 3x3 once in like 3 months.

I havent used it on my 4x4 cuz I just got it 2 days ago, still wary of taking it apart

Edit: Make sure its not oil-based, I coaxed my friend into cubing by solving a 3x3 in about 1:30 (not great I know, but still impressive to a non-cuber.) He bought an oil-based lube and it got alllllll over the place lol.
