I have an older V-Cube 5 that I purchased about a year or so ago (don't know if they changed the structure) and I was wondering what the best way to break it in was. I haven't lubed it yet and am wondering if I should put something in it now or solve it without lubricant. I want a really good 5x5 like how my last one turned out but I am not sure how I got it that way because I did so many things to it lol.

Sanding down the bumps on the corner thingy would probably help.

Thingy - the part closest to the core. Not the stalk, not the actual corner piece, the thingy.

I broke in my YJ 5x5 by slighty turning the U layer by pushing slighty like if I were doing a U' (and holding it misaligned), and doing Rw' and Rw back and forth, while still pushing with my left index finger to do a little of a U'. You should feel the friction and the clickiness, but it will go away after doing this for a while. (Do this on all sides)

I got a new v5 a few days ago. I put a few drops of maru lube in it. Did about 50 solves and then put about the same amount of maru lube in it again, and now its already better than my old one which i've been using for about a year.
