what are the best cubes?

i was wondering, what is the best

2x2
3x3
pyraminx
skewb
megaminx

2x2: probably Dayan, close second WeiPo and TangPo
3x3: soooo many, almost every cube from the last 2 years.
pyraminx: probably Qiyi, with Moyu second
skewb: sabe as pyra
mega: probably a modded shengshou or a well broken in dayan. I hope quite soon it will be the new Qiyi/XMD Galaxy

I agree with mafergut, except the best Pyra out of the box imo is the MoYu, but the QiYi can get good with some work. There is no best 3x3. They're all excellent as long as they get a good review or two on YouTube (make sure the reviews are from within the last couple years or so though). For Mega, I personally use the YuHu, because the DaYans can be kind of hit or miss. I'd wait for the QiYi though.

For me the Yuhu is too unstable and that means that just by holding it in my left hand I make layers misalign and get lockups. When sitting flat on the table, though, it's very nice. And I completely agree about the Dayans, mine was horrible and it unscrews itself on several centers, shooting cap, screw and spring to the air mid-solve when you least expect it. The Shengshou is very smooth and stable but unmodded it catches / locks up a lot due to very limited corner cutting.

Of course I meant "same as pyra" for skewb. I have yet to order a Qiyi skewb to compare with my Moyu, though. I will get it in stickerless, which Moyu doesn't have available.
Also, for Mega, Shengshou has just released a "pre-florian-modded" Mega, called Aurora that looks very nice, so that could be another option.

Yeah, I've heard it's really good. I'm getting that and the Galaxy soon. Hopefully they're somewhat revolutionary.

If the Aurora is good enough (I ordered one already) I will pass on the Galaxy. I already have too many Megas

These are just my opinions but
2x2 Dayan
3x3 basically any but my favorites are the moyu aolong v2 and the gans 356 v2

Not very good at the others so I can't really say.

Any cube is good, as long as it is set-up correctly. For example, my YueXiao, even though being a very awesome cube, I had not set it up correctly and it sucked!!! It did not corner cut even 45 degrees and it was locking up too much. After taking out some time, and setting it up correctly, it is super awesome right now, and I don't think that I'd need any other cube after this anyway...
