I know this may seem like a follow-up to my “What’s the time limit on 4x4” post, but hear me out:
I just learned clock (wow 2 puzzles learned over one weekend if we include Presidents Day as part of it), and average 1:30s. How much faster do I have to be in order to compete with it?

For my next comp it will be 30 seconds, in my last it was 2 minutes.

It's very different for every competition, so you should check it for the next comps in your country.

In addition to the time limit there is mostly also a cutoff time. This means you have 2 attempts to break this time if you want to do a full AO5.
If you are slower than the cutoff time you can ony do 2 attempts.

Cutoff time is between 15 and 30 seconds in the comps I've checked, but can also be higher if a cometition is very beginner friendly.

I think because clock is not very popular, they try to keep the timeslot for this event as short as possibly and set the cutoff time short, so only faster cubers can have 5 attempts.
