What's you're warm up like? I remember I used to be able to pick up a cube and my first solve of the day would be close to my regular average. Ever since I got my GuHong, though, the discrepancy has been huge. I average almost 30 seconds at the beginning (I don't think I ever had a >30 second solve when I used an FII), but by the end of my session I'll be down to ~18 with the occasional 14-15.xx. Derp. Maybe it's just winter and my hands are cold idk.

It usually takes me about two AO12's to get warmed up. The first two are 3-5 seconds slower than I average.
Interesting that you think your Guhong might play a part in your first slow times. I can't remember what my warm up was like before I used my Guhong. I'm 90% sure it was the same, but tomorrow I'll warm up with a different cube and see what happens.

I like some light weight lifting before cubing - gets the blood flowing, especially this time of year in Canada.

I take anywhere between 0 solves and one hour of solving before I get an average I'm happy with. Usually I give up before then.

uhm...
I turn my cube in MASses and TURn it while I'm watching a deBATE on television.

That's how I go.

lol.

i usually wash my hands with hot water or something so that they arent so dry and cold

I don't often do this, but I've found that doing a 4x4 solve before starting 3x3 makes your cube feel amazing because you were forced to turn more accurately.

Usually I just do 1 or 2 hand scrambles before starting an average.

Since it's usually -5° or colder this time of year and I have no mittens/gloves I just soak my hands in hot water for a few minutes.
