Do you guys find that you perform MUCH better only after first few initial solves? I have this problem where I need to warm up first... Which makes me look bad because I boast to my friends 20second times, and when i get the cube, I am terribly slow and often end up doing about 35 second solves... But after like 5 minutes i go all the way down to 20 averages again... its weird

my average at night is around 21, my average in the morning is 23-24. but i cant sleep immediately after i cube at night, cuz my mind is too active lol.

I find after a few warm ups I can cube better, it is rather difficult to jump right in and just do something.. I play music so for me a warm up session is very important.. same with the cube.

lol just the opposite for me, i can only go to sleep after a few solves. and yes i also need at least 1 or 2 warmups before i do decent.

For 5x5x5, it seems like I need at least 5 solves warmup before I even have any hope at all of getting sub-4-minute times. Often it takes 10 solves. For Arnaud's competition, I just keep going until I get 2 sub-4 times before I start my competition solves. And at 4 minutes per solve, that means it takes me quite a while to get through the 5x5x5 competition solves.

For 2x2x2, if I want to do well at all, I need at least 15 or 20 solves to warm up. Pretty awful.

But then, I'm practically in the geriatric ward compared to you guys, so maybe it's an age thing.

I solve things cold (without warm-up) nowadays. I might do like 1 solve if I haven't solved anything for the day before starting, but sometimes I don't even do that.
