I use the Tao Yu's trainer's virtual cube to train my algs for the algset 5-style. Virtual cube is used for serious preparation so I don't think having an opinion about it is of any merit. It is just useful for preparing new algsets for the cuber, so that they understand the algset completely.
Solving on virtual cubes also do help, and I do a lot of solves on qqcube to train hand eye coordination, E F R S2 R' U R' S2 R U' F' E'.
