Good day,

I am a rubik's cube addict for 2 weeks, I can solve it in 2-3 minutes (I admit that I have a BAD chinese cube from local toy store). I heared a lot about Fridrich's method and I surfed a lot in order to find some good video tutorial or alg's with detailed description but I didn't. I checked your wikipedia but it isn't really useful so I hope that somebody can handle me a link for a good youtube video or description.

I am also looking to buy a good cube for speedcubing, I checked out some sources and found out that DYI is the best but I hope that you can recommend me some shops (I checked wiki but I need more shops in order to see which one can ship it to my country, I am from Republic of Moldova at the edge of Europe). Thanks indeed for an answer.

Sincerely,
MichaelX.

First off, Welcome

Second, you really can't use that sort of language. There's a standard in these forums which is upheld pretty well and we like to keep it that way so in all future posts please refrain from swearing.

Third, at 2-3 minutes just practice. And practice. And then once you think you've practice enough, practice more. In about two weeks, but probably less) your times will drop to about 1 minutes to 1:30. Then look into Fridrich method. Don't just take it cause there's a lot about it. Consider Petrus, Roux, and ZZ. As of right not do not bother learning a more advanced method. The guide provided in this thread is a good one to follow: http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/s...drich-Method&highlight=faster+fridrich+method Only getting down to the 1-1:19 or so range is just practice after that you can choose to continue with your plans of learning Fridrich or a different method of your choice.

Finally, DYI refers to a cube that you get in pieces and then assemble, tension, lubricate, and sticker yourself. They take a bit of work to get right the first few times so invest in a quality speedcube instead of a DYI cube. I highly recommend the A-V cube available here:http://www.cubedepotusa.com/apps/webstore/products/show/1325610

To unlock it's full potential then you need to shave off the edges of the corners until they're round. Tutorials can be found on youtube.com

The Dayan Guhong is also a very good cube. Easily comparable to the A-V and I know that the second fastest official time in the world was set using a GuHong. Available here: http://www.cubedepotusa.com/apps/webstore/products/show/1898942

To make a GuHong really amazing it has to be lubed, preferably with Lubix brand silicone lube available here: http://lubixcube.com/Lubix_Cube/Purchase.html
From that site you can buy GuHongs that have been pre-lubed and tensioned into supposedly the greatest cube to grace our planet but they may be a little too much for you to handle as your first speedcube and buying a normal GuHong and lubing yourself may be preferred.

the F-II is also highly recommended but I've never handled one personally unlike the other two.

Some of the more popular cube sites can be found in this thread:http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/s...cube-store-thread&highlight=cube+store+thread

Agree almost completely. One thing I would say is that the GuHong is not for everyone. It's relatively difficult to control compared to the A-V, so it might be a little frustrating to use. Turn speed is not so important right now, so I'd just stick with the A-V.

It is just personal preference, though.

Very true

My first speedcube was an A-V and then when I averaged about 28 or so I first handled a GuHong so I was pretty comfortable with my fingertricks and solving characteristics so I'm a fan of the GuHong but don't have one personally and use the A-V as my main. The GuHong is extremely smooth and it feels like it just glides as it turns and the A-V has a clicky feel almost as though the cube is rattling as it turns but this is only a feeling and it doesn't affect the cube's overall speed.

He doesn't need to know anything about F2L yet. at 2-3 minutes if he introduced anything new at all into his solves his times would jump to 5+ minutes let alone something like F2L that would increase them even more. Just practice for now and follow the guide that I linked above.

What kinda translator are you using buddy?

Go to YouTube and search fridrich method. Is it really that hard?

I recommend badmephisto's videos

Getting good speed with your fingers comes with time, regardless of the method you use. If you go for the fridrich method, I recommend learning F2L now if you're already comfortable doing all of the algorithms in the beginners method. Badmephisto's videos are fantastic and helped me a lot.

Don't worry about your times at this point. Concentrate on getting familiar with F2L, then 2-Look OLL and PLL.

^^lol it's not the world record cube anymore, therefore no they don't say the truth about it.

It's a good cube, I prefer the guhong, or the fII to it though.

!!!

Thank the Gods this is 2010! A few years ago you would have been without a chance.

Edit: Like someone before me already pointed out: badmephisto's yt channel. Also, this channel seems to be quite all right.
