What is the difference between the regular WeiLong V9 and the new Picube version?
The magnets strength is a lot more reasonable compared to the original WRM V9 UV BC, tried one in May at comp
@Jude_Stradtner hope this helps

Edit: it’s essentially a UV Coated WRM V9 with custom springs instead of maglev rings, weaker ball-core with light blue internals, and no repelling edge to core magnets but only corner to core magnets

Considering buying the Picube Wrm V9! Do you have any idea how long it will take to ship to the U.S?
@Cubinginatree hope this helps

MoYu should adopt similar strategy for the V9, as the original WRM 2021 - lite and maglev versions.
For V9 lite: no maglev or edge magnets, with different color internals (orange, red?). And slash $10 off the price... 🤣

They should be able to do that, and slash the price, esp if they also remove the UV. I think a reasonable price is $29.90. Then it will be a good match for the Tornado Flagship, by being lighter and cheaper, though lacking all the adjustment features of the Tornado. 😃

Actually there’s a story behind the release date of the Pi Cube V9:
They originally planned to release it in early July, but they ended up releasing it on 28/6 for cultural reasons as its their CEO Jack Pan’s birthday (2012PANJ02). When he let me try his Pi Cube V9 prototype at a local comp back in May (where it was his main already at that time), he just told me that it’s gonna be released in early July, and may possibly delay to mid-July due to logistics reasons (transports in mainland China are still not yet completely recovered due to pandemic restrictions).
Thanks for your update and general info about this V9 edition. I can confirm that transports are erratic. I ordered mine from aliexpress on June 24, and today, after 7 days, the status is "Arrived at departure transport hub". There is no mention of the city or airport, and so I assume it is still in the seller's city and somewhere in aliexpress' collection centre.

In all likelihood the "Departure Hub" is Hong Kong...

If you have the China Post tracking number, I have found the most success using a site called PARCELSAPP.COM

I agree as to better pricing and less variation/versions

I personally find the Tomato v3's adjustnent system to be inferior to the standard Moyu dual adjustment system

With the Tomato v3, you only get 5 compression settings and only 5 center-travel-distance (aka "elasticity") settings, which for me leaves the cube way too tight

In addition, if the dumb little handle breaks you're kinda screwed (but without an actual real screw... all dressed up and nowhere to go) 😢

The Moyu system allows 9 different settings for center-travel-distance and with the screw there is both a lot more room for how much or little compression one has as well as the option for having the cube looser (which allows for a broader range of elasticity as well)
Its elegance is its great simplicity and ease-of-use.
There is no downside, and it will require something truly special to eclipse it

The new EVO II will have 6 + 11 adjustment settings. It hope its performance is good enough, but not optimistic. For me, slow cuber here, it does not matter much, eg whether it's a 3 or a 4, but it matters if I don't know where I am with the settings. Pulling the cube pieces and looking at the width of the gaps or just turning it is not reliable for me. I like to know where I am or was, and then make adjustment forward and back when necessary. The reference number and repeatability of a setting is more important. Fiddling with Moyu's tool to determine axis the screen when assembling the cube is also inconvenient.

Strong disagree from me here. I think the V3 having no screw is a huge advantage for most cubers. Center travel is guaranteed to be consistent, and doesn't require fiddling with screws/counting threads to ensure that center travel is the same on all sides. The downside of a screw based system is how often it is uneven across all sides of the cube, and every Moyu cube I've owned has had at least one screw looser than the others, and usually one tighter the most others. Moyu's system IS very good and while it may seem like I'm bashing it I actually like it a lot, but even a quarter turn of a screw is noticably different, and it can be really easy to adjust a cube unevenly by accident and have the feel of the cube just be "off". For the vast majority of cubers, this is a big negative as they are not disassembling their cubes and going to lengths to ensure all sides are truly equally adjusted.

Also, adjusting the screw adjusts center travel primarily, giving you infinite center travel options. The cup adjustment adjusts compression primarily. There is also some level of overlap on each adjustment where they both adjust center travel and compression to some degree, with each making big adjustments in one of the two adjustment types and very small changes in the other.

I don't think there is a perfect adjustment system, and I agree that the V3 could use more options for center travel and compression. I'm curious what version you use though. On my pioneer center travel settings of 1 or 2 get are prone to corner twisting they're so loose, I feel like any looser than a 1 would start popping.

All that said, I'm realizing I'm way off the topic of this thread and this will be my last tornado V3 post in this thread unless a new update is made to the cube.

I have my Flagship Tomato V3 set to 1 for both settings. It is still quite tight.
I literally have to force a corner-twist on purpose, it has never even acted like it wanted to do such a thing during normal use, alg-drills or solves.

The downside of the Tomato v3's system, as noted above, makes it inferioir to Moyu's (and even cubes with only a screw and spring) which in large part is that XMD robbed users of this cune from being able to adjust any way they want with their cube, they made it so one can only do 1 to 5 on either of the two swttings, and nothing else. I would like to make my Flagshio edjtion TWICE as loose, but there is no screw to allow that; sadly in this regard my Valk 3M is also better (with nicer shades), I can loosen or tighten it as I want.

One can hold the cube on a firm Home grip and pull on the Right aide and see as well as feel how much distance this makes between the center-piece/core and the Right side... repeat this for every other side and adjust the screw as needed, pretty much anyone can do this, even me with severe cataracts in both eyes.

Oh, but you can't do that with a Tomato v3 (or a GAN, hence I don't spend too much on GAN cubes).

Wow, has anybody here ever adjusted their own cube like this?
Kinda feels like I'm having to tell a bedtime story from before devolutionary times.

This may be the case due to purchasing from AliExpress... generally my experiences with Cubezz have been 2-3 weeks total, the first few days being normal fulfillment, travel inside China to Hong Kong + export customs, a flight to the U.S., import customs here, then the last 5 or so days getting from Los Angeles to me in east Tennessee

Did you get any more accurate updated info from the Parcelsapp.com site's tracking?

My orders from Cubezz always arrive in a day

No, I got the same info from Parcelsapp.com, but with a little less details than Global Express Tracking.

Prices of Picube in Aliexpress just went through the roof...🙄

(me thinks there's probably an error somewhere)
