How is the product quality compared to the WRM V9?
Sorry, I'm still waiting for my V9 (the Pi edition) to arrive.

The Mini had various problems. Slipped discs! (tension settings changing by themselves), and corner piece cap catching the nail and separating). And it's bought from an official local shop here, not from China. I wrote a review in the hardware forum.

I am still debating whether to get the core kit for my V9 standard or go the full monty with the Picube, or simply play dentist and extract the magnets from the edges of my V9 ballcore

There's a reason for the insanity. You can get it for about half price now from some Chinese outlets. I wrote a review. It is was not good. Very good idea, but poorly executed in terms of actual product quality, from my experience with it. Back to my grumpy style. 😆

I don't have any experience with the V2, but I owned the Mini and tried very hard to like it.
If you haven't even tried the cube, please don't say such irresponsible statement like "the product quality is poor".

Also speaking of the wholesale price tags, its just the same case for the UV Coated GAN Mini Pro.

The wholesale prices of the Super RS3M V2 are not shown above, so don’t blame me plz
Actually cube retailers have to abide in the range of MSRP set by the cube brand (MoYu in this case), just that some cube retailers simply apply the price ceiling as their selling price while some cube retailers are applying the price floor as their selling price.

If you have both the V9 standard and the V9 UV Ballcore, I suggest swapping the torpedoes to get rid of the edge magnets, and swap the springs from the V9 standard to the V9 UV Ballcore. Just trying to replicate the Pi Cube Limited V9

As I said, I owned the Mini M Pro. I tried for a whole year to like it, but its quality was poor. Read my review. I was actually quite excited when it was released, since I love smaller cubes and lighter cubes, and I'm ready to pay for good quality cubes with smaller size and lighter weight. That Mini sounded like a dream, and it should be great as a smaller cube to carry everywhere (The YJ Zhilong was what I have to use for that). I think that Mini M Pro was a great idea and I hope there is a V2 version with its problems corrected. Another problem is the turning, which did not feel good as the pieces were so hollow and too light, and harder to get it spinning than pieces with some more mass. (Like throwing a beach ball.) There will be a Gan UI Mini smartcube coming. I would have bought it without thinking, even at its price of more than $100, given my preference for small but high end cubes, but it seems to be using the same pieces from the previous Mini. Hmm... My fingers are crossed hoping there will be no issues.

Another thought. Why wasn't there any report of the major "slipped disc" problem from anyone outside of China? How did all the well known reviewers and famous cubers test their cubes? Nobody mentioned the serious problem until I did. And only one of them, Shawn, did, after I reported it. This is why we should value forums reviews, and independent reviewers.

Do you own this Mini and have a different experience?

This simple idea didn't even occur to me. Thanks.
If I like the swap, I will simply get rid of the edge magnets altogether, just so that I can keep the UV intact.
(was also considering tempering the edge magnets with epoxy or glue, to weaken it's repel strength, like what a lube would do)

I thought you are talking about the Super RS3M V2, so nvm.

I have the UV Coated GAN Mini M Pro and its my OH main. I agree that its hard to setup, but mine is setup by Pi Cube and maybe that's the reason.

Wait you have already ordered? Did you get it with premium setup?

For anyone interested, the Gan Mini M Pro UV is now available for $37 from Ziicube, or just $27 without UV. That's less than half price. I believe they have put in a better disk with sharper cogs, after the problem became known, to fix that problem.

Dan I have to say I've had the exact opposite experience from you with the Mini M Pro. I got mine shortly after it was released as OH is one of my favourite events, and I have small hands so a smaller cube is prefect for me. I've not had any hardware issues with it in the 2 years that I've had it. In fact it's still the same as when I set it up and still performs very well for me.

Either I got lucky, or you had a dodgy batch :)

Still not the cheapest tho, I got my UV Coated Gan Mini M Pro well below $27

Hmm is the Super RS3M V2 really worth the same price as a UV Coated GAN Mini M Pro without adjustable magnets? That’s pretty insane especially for RS line from MoYu
To me the whole "UV Coating" seems like B.S... as SpeedCubeReview put it in his video, "it's marketing," it's hype based on their having already degraded the quality of plastic used to make cheaper cubes...
Before the "frosted plastic" trend, Moyu made their flagships (GTS, GTS2, GTS3, WRM 2019) out of better harder stronger plastic that had a glossy finish, and those are all sturdy stable.greqt performing cubes.
The WRM 2019 still lists for $40 and part of what that price gets you is a case full of multiple accessories, different magnets, different spring sets, and a replacement core.

I think Maglev, UV, and probably also "Ball Core" are all non-essential features. It's true that core magnets, if done right, can provide a little bit of improvement, but I still don't know if a ball shaped magnet holder is so important. The Tornado V3 Flagship don't have any of these features. It's core magnets are held without a ball.

I believe the first batch of Tornado V2 all had problems. There were several reports on Chinese sites about it at the time, and I provides 2 links about that problemin an earlier post somewhere here, before the Tornado was available for sale overseas. I bought one anyway, as I love that idea of a small but flagship grade cube, thinking that it might be fine as I ordered it from a local store, and about 2 months after the problem was known. So, I was a "beta tester", as they say, that's when manufacturers do not have adequate QC. It was quite surprising to me that such a highly regarded maker's high-end product could be so poor, and it was a problem that was so plain and easy to see. It is wise to wait and avoid the first batch of batches, until more independent reviews are available. This is also the case with the first Ball Cores, which had a paint cracking problem, or the Tornado Pioneer, which had its core changed completely to a new one with a different design. It is also wiser to take reviews with a grain of salt. Trust the negative comments, but keep a healthy suspicion of anything that are not commented on.

QiYi has updated the Tornado v3’s core with stronger ballcore in their latest batches while still selling it at the same price.
I tried both old core and new core Tornado V3, and the one with new core is a lot better.
I guess this can be one of the reasons for Max Park to switch back from the YS3M.
