While messing around with triggers, I found a cool U perm.
You take out the right f2l (with R U R' U'), then take out the left f2l (with L ' U' L U), then put the right f2l back in it's slot (with U R U' R'), the put the left one back with (U' L' U L). This appears to do a CCW edge cycle (U Perm). If you take out the left f2l, then right, then replace left, then replace right, it seems to do a CW edge cycle (U Perm).

I found this alg (a bit different I think?) in the PLL wiki. Does anybody know who orginally generated the algorithm, and if they discovered it this same way? It's a pretty cool alg! Sorry if this may belong in help and questions, but I think it's more of s "Hey, isn't this cool?" type of thing. :)

That is interesting. It's going to be a lot slower than other algorithms for most people for a couple reasons. First is that the algorithms most people use are 2gen. Most people don't have the same level of dexterity in their left hand that they do in their right.
Additionally, the algorithm most people use is R2 U R U R' U' R' U' R' U R', which is 11 moves. This algorithm is R U R' U' L' U' L U2 R U' R' U' L' U L, 14 moves. So it's longer, and involves L turns.

EDIT: The algorithm in the wiki is exactly this.

True, making 3rd gen. I find it awkward because I usually AUF the cycle to the bottom two rows of the top layer. So to do this, a Y2is required. Ps, sorry for double post. I'm on an iPad wihich is hard to use.

This alg may be easier to understand for a beginners method, because you don't necesacarrily need an alg

Additionally, if you make a small change...
R' U' R U L U L' U2' R' U R U L U' L' does a 3-cycle of edges on Megaminx.

Heheh, that's a bit weird, I found that yesterday as well but on a megaminx :p
o wow

That'll help out alot of megaminxers (new word ftw)

I was looking at the wiki about 2 months ago for an alg I could use on my megaminx and I found that one which I have been using ever since. Also if you shift one of your hands over one layer you can also use it as an A-perm.
