I want to say that this Pyraminx is not bad. I actually like it. But I won't recommend it.

I had some Amazon gift cards from my birthday, and I wanted to get a true high end pyraminx to replace my RS Pyra that I overworked and now feels slow. So I found it for only twelve dollars (as opposed to the standard $19 that other cube stores charge). Remembering that I tried one and liked it at my last competition and hoping to find an alternative to the Weilong, I ordered it (alongside multiple other MGC puzzles) to try it.

My unboxing experience was very premium. It was presented nicely in foam with an accessory box with a fuzzy bag, a flathead screwdriver and some pamphlets. I tried it out, and I was immediately puzzled. It felt soft, yet snappy, fast yet controllable. The corner cutting was subpar, but still very reasonable at 50 forward and backward. No friction ridges were present in the pieces despite ridges being present in the MGC Evo 3x3. Nonetheless, it felt very smooth.

Adjustment was odd. There was only a spring and screw instead of a proprietary system in the core, yet there were adjustable (ish) magnets. I say "ish" as the difference between the strongest setting and the weakest setting is nearly unnoticeable. 6 settings, yeah right. Realistically just leaving them alone is the best option.

The frosted plastic on the outside was fine on the 3x3, but on a more convex shape like a tetrahedron makes grip very difficult. I ended up polishing it down to glossy using a paper and a mat. But after that, the grip feature worked well.

The factory feeling OOTB was nice, so I recommend a light lube setup that doesn't mask the factory feeling. Also, tighten the screw about a quarter to a half turn depending on preferences, and I highly recommend polishing the external plastic.

Overall, I like the feeling, but if you are unsure whether you will like it or not, just buy a Weilong.
