The Solve Critique Thread

Re: 3x3 solve

what should i do to be faster?

You should work on your F2L mainly, look for more effective and efficient ways of pairing and placing. Also turn slower and smoother. People really underestimate how much time you gain just by slight pauses.

No.
can you explaine me?
well, what you are doing is recognizing one f2l pair, solving it as fast as possible, and then recognizing the the next f2l pair. with look ahead, you recognize an f2l pair, then you solve it slower and while you are solving it you are looking for the next pair so that when you finish solving a pair you dont need to pause and look for another one. get it?
(sorry for the run on sentence.)

Look into some f2l edge orientation guides to help lower those cube rotations. Learn how to solve properly oriented edges from every angle. Learning other cases will also help your recognition. Speedpicker has done a couple tutorials on this that I think could really help you. You might also find jskyler's vids to be helpful too.

Also have you tried using a smaller cube? Your hands look so small compared to this one. It could potentially help with fingertricks.

yeah i tried 55 and 50 mm but i found the 57 to be the most comfortable :P

Average of 5 = 19.75, (16.37), 18.78, 17.71, (19.96) = 18.75

I'm using Roux as my main method. Anything to improve?

3x3 ZZ ao12 finally.
This is a pretty good average for me, but being on camera makes me quite inconsistent.
Tips? Reconstructions of a few solves would be nice too I guess :). Thanks guys.
Comments on turning style? look ahead? EOLine?

At 0:26 that F2L case can be done much faster by putting it above the slot and doing, in your case since it was the back right, R' U2 R U R' U' R. I assume you can figure out mirrors and inverses for other slots yourself. Nice solves, though.

How did I not figure that out... :P
Thanks for the advice.

It was one week ago :) my times are better now.
However, how do my solves look like?
I have been Roux for only 1 month now ;) before I switched to it, I knew, how to solve a cube with Roux, but my times were only like 25s...

Could you rate and critique my solves again please? I know, I have slow PLLs (recognizing mainly) and I work on them.

Some critique on this? It's a bit faster than average, but nothing unusual.

Some things I have noticed:
-Too long pause between cross and f2l
-Too long inspection time on 4th solve
-Some messing around with AUF

I feel like my look ahead is finally starting to get good, although there is always room for improvement.
My turning style is quite a bit influenced by some videos of jskyler91 I saw a while ago. Love his style.

Very first sub 30! Tips plz.

My first sub 30.
just learned some OLL and PLL algorithms.
How can i get faster (besides learning full Friedrich). Thanks in advance.

I don't have videos, but every time that i post an answer on the example solution game, Ill also post it here so all you people can tell me how much of a newb I am (10 years experience and I still suck)

I am well aware of my failings in OLL

Here's a video of some 3x3 solves. I don't have the times or scrambles. I average about 23-25 seconds, with a 12-15 second F2L and 10-12 second LL.
