The Solve Critique Thread

scramble: L2 F' U' R2 B2 U2 R B U' B2 U R' F2 B D2 F L D L F' B L' D2 R F'
x2 y'
Cross: U L U2 L U2 F R' F2
F2L1: y'(R U R' U')times 3
F2L2: y' R U R' U' R U R' U L U L'
F2L3: L' U L U2 R U2 R' U' F U' F'
F2L4: U2 R U' R' (sledgehammer)
2Look OLL: f R U R' U' F' Then the Pi case
PLL: U (R perm) U2

For F2L4, i know that it might of been faster just to do U R U' R' instead of doing the sledge, but if you do the sledge, it gave me 2 edges oriented for OLL instead of none.

I'd recommend learning optimum inserts for certain F2L cases. When I was learning I looked at Jessica Fridrich's site that spelled out all of the F2L inserts. I would do the alg I reverse for the setup and then perform the alg. Later I found more F2L alg sites. My F2L now is down to about 7 seconds. For me it mainly took time!

Re: Critique me (3x3 26.53 solve)

Thanks for the answers guys. Since the day I posted this video, I managed to get sub 25 averages and since last week I noticed that I'm hitting sub-20 solves more frequently :)

Thank you for your advice

3x3 solve

Normal slove of 3X3
What can I improve

A few pointers on what I could be doing better would be appreciated.

I average ~2:10 and my splits are on average:

First 2 centers: 10s
Pair 3 dedges and insert: 20s
Last 4 centers: 20s
Remaining dedges: 40s
3x3 stage: 40s (I average just below 30s on a standard 3x3.)

Spend more time inspecting. You should have easily planned out at least one first Center, it could have been done in probably 4 moves. Then really work on the efficiency of the rest of your centers, you broke up several soled pairs and gave your self a lot more work to do. I would suggest you work on un-timed solves and really work on efficiency and planning before you make any moves.

Calm down and slowdown. You look like you are fighting the cube, and then pausing for ages. You could have solved the same time with probably less than half of your TPS f you removed the pauses.

You can cut your F2L time down by a lot with more practice and less pauses. F2L wasn't competed until the :25 mark and you got a PLL skip. It probably should have been about a 30 second solve.
