A cube got 6 sides, 8 corners and 12 edges.

Any edge can be at 12 x 2 = 24 positions ... 12 places 2 orientations
Any corner can be at 8 x 3 = 24 positions ... 8 places 3 orientations
The cube can be at 6 x 4 = 24 positions ... 6 possible in U and then 4 possible at F

What I'm saying is that the figures are the same, it's 24 positions anyhow and it must be so.

A tesseract (4 dimensional cube) got 24 sides, 16 corners and 32 edges

Any edge can be at 32 x 2 = 64 positions
Any corner can be at 16 x 4 = 64 positions ... a corner got 4 sides but we only see 3 of them

Ok, 64, but if we now place any of the 24 faces in U then it must be 4 possible in F as for the cube and that makes 4 x 24 = 96 orientations?

This object has got more orientations than it has got corner and edges to follow with it???

.....

Does this prove a tesseract is not possible? is it just fantasy? (is 4D possible at all?)

It depends on how you wish to implement a 4D cube... there are probably multiple ways of doing this. It also depends on how you wish to define moves on a 4D cube.

It is possible by some definitions, as evidenced by the 4D Applet...

I hardly know anything about this, but what I do know, I'll post my views. Please correct me if I'm wrong though. I can be quite ignorant.

Our world is a 3D world. I believe there are other worlds out there, unseen to us and unrealized by scientists, because most scientists won't say anything unless they have solid evidence, which is hard to get.

In a 3D world, it is possible for 3D objects to exist, as well as 2D (shape) and 1D (line).

Similarly, in a 4D world, it is possible for 4D, 3D, 2D and 1D objects to exist.

This being a 3D world, it should be impossible for 4D objects to exist.

But, I can't say for sure. How can we be sure this is even a 3D world?

It could be a 10D world without us knowing. ;)

I thought the 4th dimension was time...at least in physics...isn't that where Einstein's relativity stuff was about?

4D is like, X Y Z (like Harry said) and the 4th dimension would be over a certain amount of time...

At least, that's what i think xD

We are talking about a fourth spatial dimension here. In our world, there are three spatial dimensions and a separate dimension of time.

See Carl Sagan's explanation of the 4th dimension:

Very interesting...i truly agree what he says...we can only imagine what would be there. On our physics we can only prove a 4th dimension, if it's supposed to be time.

Moving in a 4th dimension on the other hand...is only imaginable. Really great stuff, thanks for the movie! ^^

Though i've been thinking that maybe the 4th dimension is the spiritual world ^^ (am i opening a bottemless pit here?:P) heheheh
