Right now I am averaging just above 20 seconds. I'm just wondering if you have any tips on practicing or how I should practice to be sub 20 consistently. Thanks!

Hi, I average just under 19 seconds and I have some tips for you on how to become sub-20. I will need a little more information about how you solve and what you are good at and what you are not.

First, and I think most importantly, try to become color neutral. Color neutrality helps your recognition and if you get an easy scramble that's not on white, it will make it much faster.
Second, Learn full PLL. Full OLL is not necessary to become sub-20 and I know this because I know about 40/57 OLL's and I average 18.80.
Third, plan your whole cross out in inspection and if possible, look for your first pair. Also use 9 moves or less to make your cross.
Fourth, practice other events related to 3x3. As an example, 4x4. 4x4 will help your recognition abilities especially during edge pairing and there is also the 3x3 stage at the end if you use Reduction.

I hope this helps, I will be able to give you more in-depth information if I know a little more about what you're good at and what needs improvement. Bye.

Thanks! I'll try to use those tips.

I'm not really that good at cross and the transition from cross to f2l. I'm working on look ahead in f2l. I know 2 look OLL but I also know a few other OLL algs. I also know full PLL.

I usually take 14-16 seconds for cross and f2l and 5-8 seconds on OLL and PLL.

I am also wondering how can I be more consistent with my solves. I occasionally get bad times and sometimes I get good times.

Thanks again!

Hi again, the only thing I can really say about this is to practice slower solves and see how the moves you do to make your cross affect the first pair. As far as consistency, I can't say anything because sometimes in one average of 5 I'll get a 15 then I get a 22.

One more thing I can mention is to look into edge control for last pair into OLL. If you know 2 look OLL then you will always have a cross case on OLL if you use edge control. I'm still kind of new to this concept but I have a basic understanding of how it works.

Try and get your LL time down to sub-6 and your cross+f2l time down to about 12 seconds. You can do this by practicing recognition, and lookahead for f2l. Try and see your first pair in inspection, and turn as slowly as you need for a consistent tps through f2l.
