Sub 12 with beginner's method?

So I know a guy who's friend (lol) says he averages sub12 with beginners F2L and COLL. Do you think that's possible or is he lying?

It takes too long to do the algos, way too many moves, so I wager he's lying. The TPS needed to do it that way, he'd have to have the speed close to Mats.

Try it yourself.. you know how fast you are with the speed methods, now speedsolve the cube using beginners method and mark the difference.

He uses realcube or simulation? If simulation then I think it is possible.

He put that much time to learn COLL but not F2L? Is F2L really that hard for people?
