So, I have been working on my PLL and I decided that I should start practice with OLL. But I'm not sure where to start. There are so many algorithms gah! If anyone could tell me a good way to start off that would be cool =)

finish your pll first i'd say, and while doing that, learn and easier way of oll, like 3 step or something. after you finish pll, go straight into the oll algs. or you can be like me, learn everything at the same time and finish in less than 2 weeks =D. i'm really dedicated to cubing =P

As for learning OLL, I'd say just go down the list of OLLs (in the speedcubing forum) and start learning. Make a goal to learn 1 alg a day. Before you learn a new alg, go over all previous algs to make sure you still have them down.

Also, I agree with skinnyandweak, finish the PLLs first.

Good luck.

The OLLs are the last things that most people learn, simply because there are too many. A lot of them are similar, and there's a lot of mirror cases, so it won't be as hard as you think.

However, if you're willing to wait a few months, I might have a new, semi-intuitive OLL system up, which is basically a beginner OLL algo (which you use depends on the corner orientation) to handle the corners, with a slice move (slice + U/ U' / U2 a lot of the time) prefix/suffix to handle the edges.

An example would be: (R U2 R2 U' R2 U' R2 U2 R) [U S']

... get it?

Cool, well for now I'm using one algorithm to orient the last layer which is R U R' U R U2 R' after yellow cross, all you gotta do is know the patterns but im just using that to practice the few PLL's I know =)

Finish PLLs first, then learn the 7 OLLs with cross already oriented so you can get a 3LLL (you should already know F U R U' R' F' and F R U R' U' F' for forming the cross on the layer layer). Full OLL can come much later..

Just to add to the previous comment, if you learn the 7 OLLs where the cross is oriented and you use those 2 algorithms to make the cross you may as well also recognize the 2 cases that they actually solve. Also another handy tip is that the Y perm and the T perm are made up of the same 2 OLL's (just done in a different order).

So if you learn Y or T you also learn another 2 oll's.

I see your avg is 1:03? Do you know F2L? Annyway, don't bother learning OLL until you're atleast sub 30. I average 17-18 and i still don't know all OLLs.

My average is lowering because I'm getting better at F2L
