Stackmat Gen4 autostopping problem pls help

I'm having this problem with my stackmat, when I'm not super careful to lift my hands directly up it will stop the timer after .001-.009 seconds. It mostly happens when I move my hands forward off the timer. I think that the friction between my hands and the plates is making the plates vibrate, so then it detects a stop when there was not stop. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

If it's connected to a website when you're doing this, I've found that it is really weird, and the timer stops randomly sometimes without touching it. That's all I know about this problem.

How old is your stackmat. and how much do you use it.

Also you may need to replace the batteries.

1-2 years and not very frequently
I have never replaced the batteries though, so I'll give that a try

Ok, the batteries are completely fine, and I discovered that it only happens when connected to my laptop via the cord.

Laptop has never worked for me I have had that exact same issue but it works on a desktop well.
