Hi guys,

I got a square-1 on my birthday. I looked for several tuts on YouTube, but there arent that much online, and these are not good in my opinion. I figured out how to do the star thing on the down face, how to make the up and down layers a cube and how to put corners in their correct place.

But now I'm stuck with orienting the edges. Mostly this is because where algorithms come into play for the first time.
I found this site: http://www.cubezone.be/square1step3.html

The case I have in front of me is the first, where only one edge on each face is not correct.
I hold the Square-1 like shown in the picture, so that the wrong corner is pointing away from me on both faces. The middle layer is turned so that the little piece is on the left, so that I can do /-moves with the right side.

When applying that alg on the site I posted, I doesnt solve the edges. Instead, the corner on the down face is turned 90 degrees to the left, and still one edge on each face is wrong.
The alg under this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxZ13MHX8E4&feature=related) works. But here I have to hold the Square-1 so both wrong edges point to the right on each face.
Is the algorithm on www.cubezone.be just wrong?

Now I have tried a few algs of the site I posted (cubezone) and none works for me! After applying the alg, the edges are not correct. There are still wrong edges on every face. I am sure I'm not messing up clockwise and anti-clockwise on the down side. Its the same as with the 3x3, isnt it?
A Down-Move would be an Inverted-Up-Move when looked on from the top.

No, you have them postioned wrong, it "fixes" UB and DF, his pics always confused me...

It says top face from top, and bottom face from bottom, so not what the bottom would look "though" the top.

Also I suggest these:

The good thing about them is that they don't change / disturb the corners to you can look ahead a lot easier whilte speedsolving.

yeah. Are you sure you're holding the sq-1 correctly then? the small side should be on the left. Or are you sure you know 2 means corner and 1 means edges? i just tried some of them and they all work for me. And also are you sure you are positioning both layers correctly? http://www.cubezone.be/square1step3.html
The first alg: the bottom means you look AT the bottom and the misoriented edge is at the top.

Hi guys,

I think my problem is that I misunderstand the pictures. I dont get how I have to position the wrong edge on the down face (1st pic).

In the video vcuber13 posted, the edge on top is on a horizontal line and the one at the bottom is vertical (I mean turned 90° to the right).
On the pics on cubezone it looks like the edges are both on a horizontal line!?
