I took like 8 to 12 seconds to finish off my last layer. Using 2-Look OLL and Full PLL. Any tips on lowering them to like about 4 to 5?

Do a PLL alg over and over until it's sub 3 at least. Repeat for all. Same for OLLs, though you should be able to get them sub 2.
If you are using an unlubed storebought cube you might want to get a DIY cube.

8-12 seconds? The ****...?
I take 7-8 seconds and I use 2-look OLL and full PLL!

Sounds to me that you need to start practising the most difficult cases you have problems with and just drill drill drill...

I used to average over 4 seconds for OLL/PLL's. But now that I've started to do them a little smoother and nicer I can easily get sub 2 on them.

Recognition? All PLL's should be 2 sec or faster. Oll's are pretty easy.

lol, really? 2 seconds for PLL seems really fast, even for me. It's definitely doable, but I don't think it's necessarily practical at this stage. Looking at your own signature, you're barely sub-20. With 2-seconds for PLL, and an assumed-faster-than-that OLL, I would think you'd be well under 20 seconds.

I'd say for sub-20, you could get this breakdown:

Cross: 3
F2L: 10
OLL: 3
PLL: 4

You only need 4 second-last-layer for sub 15-ish. If you're that serious about sub-15, you might want to work on your F2L before LL.

Fast F2L is more important than a fast last layer.

I used to use my right thumb for U' wich is very inefficient and when I switched to using my left hand more I was waay faster and it only took a couple of hours to get used to it.

I now have a 7 sec LL using 2 look OLL and full PLL (I'm learning ful OLL at the moment).

So you should check if you're using decent fingertricks and then just practice for faster excecution and recognition. Also try to recognize your PLL's by shape (like a three block+ headlights = A-perm etc.), don't recognize by moving the pieces in your head. Heck I don't even exaclty know what most PLL's move :P.

My two tips :p

@cyoubx

seems rather slow last layer for sub-20, I never practiced my PLL's outside of solves and they are faster then 4 seconds (with recognition) while my F2L+cross is 14-17'ish seconds (I've been cubing for almsot 3 months)

Oopsies. My mistake. I thought the OP used 2 look PLL. With full PLL, 3 seconds seems sufficient. Regardless, I still think 2 seconds is a little beyond the need for the OP.

I'd say Practicing recognition is very important and is infact the reason I'm not yet sub 20 because 2-3 seconds of my solve is recognition of oll and pll. it's good to know what pll you have by just looking at 2 sides of the cube instead of wasting valuable time by looking at all 4 sides. For oll what I do is of course look at what case I have on the top then glance at 2 sides which will tell me what oll I need to do. Even then this may not get someone to sub20 which is where lookahead in f2l is needed. I average about 6-8 seconds on my last layer with full oll and pll but with good recognition the same time is easily possible with 2 look oll

i can recognize em well . just that maybe my fingertricks aint that good yet. i will practice ~ thanks all for tips and sorry for being inactive for awhile lol~

Also try using prisma puzzle timer and setting it to OLL training, this will give you a scramble with f2l already completed and a random oll and pll and of course you can time it but dont give yourself inspection time as inspection time is only used to solve the cross not the Oll. i've just been doing this and i now know i average between 6-7 seconds for my last layer which is much better than i expected.

i was once averaging 17 seconds and i never thought my last layer would speed up. but it did just keep practicing and dont be lazy and learn full oll and ull speed up your last layer in no time
