hi people,

the reason i make this thread is because my solves feel very weird in the last couple of weeks. my avg has been improving a little, but since then it feels like some parts of my solves are a lot faster than others. so i made this

avg
Cross 3,09 2,46 3,16 3,2 2,57 2,45 2,91 2,67 2,35 2,76
F2L 10,52 10,71 8,76 9,29 10,29 8,01 9,93 9,37 8,33 9,47
OLL 2,75 2,9 2,57 3,08 2,53 3,41 2,22 1,87 2,65 2,66
PLL 4,82 4,14 3,23 3,3 5,59 4,29 5,53 4,41 4,55 4,43

Total 21,18 20,21 17,72 18,87 20,98 18,16 20,59 18,32 17,88 19,32

the avg is a little slower compared to my session avgs probably due to no look ahead between f2l oll and pll because of stopping the timer.

any thoughts about the times? something weird iuo?

where should i improve from now on?

help appreciated!

edit: wow.. format is gone. well the last times in each row are the avg ; and the avg is not 19,85 but 19,32

Your PLL could probably be improved the easiest. You should be able to get sub-3 on all PLL's relatively easy.

An easy way to improve your total F2L time is to work on the transition between your cross and first pair. Try minimizing the delay, or ideally work on the transition until there is no delay.

and sub 2 :P

but serious again :P if you change the OLL and PLL you have my last layer times ^^ (3LLL ftw!! =D)... this was maybe not any serious :/

okay.. Now I'm serious xD Get your PLL times down... then I would say that each F2L pair should at MAXIMUM take you 2.50 seconds ;) and easy pairs shouldn't really take any longer than 1.5 seconds for you... this isn't that hard to do... but you need to focuse a bit :P if you do this your F2L excl. cross will drop down to 6-10 seconds... which will make your total F2L like 9-13 seconds... and my goal (I'm around 14-16 average on a good day =) ) is to keep my F2L incl. cross sub 10 consistently =)

conclusion: PLL can easily be improved, and F2L might also need attention :D (Your OLL is impressing me =D )

In a perfect, transition-pause-less world, I'm sub 15. Good transition between steps is one of the most important things (the only things more important are look-ahead and alg speed). Our F2l Is about the same (I'm only a bit faster). Just improve your transitions and PLL speed.
This can help you improve your transition.
Also turning a slower and looking ahead to the next step can help, i.e. looking to OLL while on the last F2L pair, Looking to PLL while on OLL, ect.

For PLL speed, just go through all of them, check the algs, and practice them. If you have a very "locky", long, or slow alg, learn a new one (You can get algs at the wiki, but I used Badmephisto.com, and Joels speedcubing page.) . I used to use a horrible 19 move G-perm that I found myself...
If you have algs that you know are optimal and/or fingertricky/fast, just practice them till you can sub 2 them (I need a new z and n perm). Shouldn't take too long to weed out the slow algs.

Also, your cross seems to need a bit of work... You should be sub 2.5 cross in no time.
Here ya go.
Oh and this too.

Here are my splits btw...
Cross:2.52, F2L:9.35, OLL:1.54, PLL:2.69,
16.1

Cross:2.23, F2L:7.48, OLL:1.84, PLL:2.46
14.01

Cross:5.37, F2L:8.27, OLL:2.54, PLL:1.89
18.07

Cross:1.40, F2L:6.71, OLL:2.00, PLL:2.00
12.11

Cross:1.38, F2L:7.04, OLL:3.21, PLL:3.00
14.63

What do you use for your G perm?
