Skewb or pyraminx

Skewb or pyraminx?

i want to like pyraminx, but the one thing holding me back is hardware. i've just never had good hardware for the event that's made it fun to practice.

i started out with an unmodded shengshou, which i used from 2014 all the way up to my last comp. as you can imagine, a pyraminx with no reverse corner cutting isn't enjoyable to use, especially in 2023. so after my last comp, i got a ylm pyra.

unfortunately, the one i got has a major flaw: one of the faces creates more friction, and is therefore noticeably slower than the others, even on equal tensions. i'm basically unable to develop a consistent turning style because of this. my leading theory is that one side of the core was threaded at a slight angle, so i basically have no choice but to try my luck with a replacement core.

i'm probably just making excuses, but honestly my ylm pyra is not enjoyable to practice with. don't get me wrong, i think pyra is fun, just not for me with my current hardware.

also, skewb turning is more fun imo

Pyraminx because its my main event

I hate skub because i have bad skub hardware and i get bad times with it (at one comp my best skub single was my pr avg)

And pyra is easy to learn: keep solving sides 'till your lucky

I agree but why does your name state otherwise?
I was joking lol. I obviously think Skewb is better, but I still like both. Skewb and Pyraminx are similar. In both of them you solve part of the puzzle intuitively and then do an algorithm to solve the rest. WR averages are similar, and overall they both are good events.

Skewb 100%. The mods and additional unique puzzles that have been created using the skewb mechanism as a base are far superior to those that use the pyraminx as a base mechanism. There are a few cool pyraminx based puzzles out there, the volcano pyraminx for example, but I think that the skewb mechanism far outweighs the pyraminx.
