Should I buy a maru 4x4 or an x-cube 4

I bought an X-Cube. Although I'm pretty bad at solving it, its by far my favorite puzzle to solve. It was my first 4x4x4; my reasoning was that if I wanted a 4x4 and wanted to speedsolve on it, I should just get the best one out instead of buying a cruddy one, and then upgrading later. At first when I got it, I was EXTREMELY dissatisfied. It turned horrible and was barely finger-trickable. One week later (now) the puzzle feels amazing. So basically, the cube is a real pain to break in but once it's broken in its absolutely amazing! I had to clean it out twice because of the amount of plastic dust in it but after all that, I'm really really glad I bought this cube. It feels extremely sturdy and very rarely pops on me. If it does pop, its very minor (an edge or something).

To break in the cube, I did the sexy move a lot and also used a lot of CRC. I ended up lubricating the cube 6 or 7 times. CRC does make the pieces bind, so make sure you are quick to start turning the pieces. It also makes the plastic a little soft, which makes breaking the cube in easier.

The X-cube becomes awesome if you sand off the studs on the fixed centerpiece

to anyone reading this post, dont take it seriously. the stud is what keeps the mechanism in alignment. do not sand them off. this is a joke on a fellow member of the forum.

edit:lolbump, but i'll keep the post here just in case someone does decide to read the thread.

At hknowstore it's only about 40 bucks free shipping.

But yeah only invest in the X Cube if you're serious. The only problem with the Maru is the misalignments. Mine does it all the time, I'm considering pin modding it if that works.

I must say I disagree with both choices. The ShenShou 4x4 is very nice and very cheap, rather than spending $50 on a X-cube you only spend $10 on the ShenShou. The Maru is nice at first but then dies afterwards and isn't worth your money again.

I just got the x-cube and i have a sheng shou.

I don't know why, but my Maru cube basically sucks. The core gets misaligned literally every other solve. I've gotten so fed up with it, I don't even use it anymore! I've tensioned and lubed it, but it still gets misaligned. When the core isn't misaligned, outer layer turns are alright, but inner layers are pretty bad. Overall, I really wouldn't recommend it..... :/ (And I can't say anything about the X-Cube 4 because I've never used one....sorry haha)

You know that's kind of your fault you bought the x-cube have fun assembling it cause its the worst cube to assemble besides the Eastsheens. Not to be mean but why did you tell me this in the first place? Like really?

Thats your fault you got the cube. The Dayan is very nice, but takes some work to make it amazing. I'm going to buy a new Dayan 4x4 because I like my old one so much!!!But the Shenshou barely beats it...
