Serious question

Do you think the mods should be charged?

when will the mods be chained? like the moderation here is mid, they literally banned our "ban ukcubefan" thread. like bro, were just trying to make this a better place.
i believe that banning people should also be partialy up to the non-mods to make it a fair choice.
Bro no one cares about banning people. Instead we should revolt against the mods for not giving us a skull emoji 🥺

god this is a stupid thread

Can you look at that thread and honestly tell me it shouldn't have been locked, even after being derailed? I didn't bother writing a lock message because (i) I couldn't be bothered, but also (ii) is it not self-evident enough?
Expanding on this, since I'm on a train with nothing better to do:

Normally, when threads start to stray off topic, I delete the offending posts and remind people to stay on topic, but this is also not the first time I just left the whole thread locked while waiting to have some free time to purge the off-topic posts in the thread. (This free time is now being consumed to address this thread instead! You're part of the problem!)

they literally banned our "ban ukcubefan" thread.
Factually inaccurate. The thread was locked. Not banned. Not deleted. (What does banning a thread even mean??)

Democracy sounds good in theory but only works when the voters are sufficiently mature and do not have conflicts of interest. Maybe if we add age verification and gate it to people above 18, I think that'd work pretty swell!

(this is a joke)
(unless...)

---

Also, I've already mentioned this multiple times: either I'm blind or there is literally no way for "Super Moderators" to actually ban people. We can give out warnings, but they're essentially toothless: even if you ignore them, what can the mods do?

You think I don't want to ban some of the most persistent, worst offenders of the rules here?

just wanna understand something:
so mods can close/lock threads
apply a temp ban on members (that’s what happened to JDAW6 right??)
nuke members’ accounts (I remember you said something like that in a thread)
is that it? Also what’s the difference between nuking and banning?

  1. Brutally honest; stop caring about this person. Continuing to rant about this user will only make things worse. Some bad people really enjoy attention.
  2. What you instead should do:
    1. Block them
    2. Ignore them
If this user harrasses someone or acts against the rules, you don't need to make a pointless thread flaming the moderators for not doing what other users want (especially under General Speedcubing Discussion). Moderators can most likely make better decisions that you guys can. Leave this user who is acting against the rules to their own little bubble, and don't give him the attention he is getting from these threads.

I don't want to act like a moderator when saying this (minimodding), but I really wanted to give my opinion on this as someone who has not really gotten into the story behind this user, as I can give my look on the situation as a mostly outsider.

Thank you.

But the thing is the mods never listen we all want him gone forever

Just ban UKCubeFan and this all goes away
The thing is xyzzy CANT ban.
I completely understand that.
Idk why they cant but they cant.

Imo banned = locked, because it "bans" people from sending in the thread.

Since im confused on whether this whole bit is a joke, or just the age bit, or if its not at all cause of the 'unless...'

Democracy to vote for things here would actually be great, but i think it would be stupid to only allow over 18s to vote in some cases, since some topics (such as ukcubefan) have probably affected under 18s the most, i dont think most children have seen what he sends on a regular basis anyway.

Anyway, this bit is probably pointless cause chances are the whole paragraph i just replied to was a joke.

yes, i think youve mentioned both of these things multiple times, and i understand both of those.

Its weird tho how mods, who are supposed to help get rid of unwanted people that repeatedly break the rules, and make the forums a better place, have virtually no tools to do so.

Normally, when threads start to stray off topic, I delete the offending posts and remind people to stay on topic, but this is also not the first time I just left the whole thread locked while waiting to have some free time to purge the off-topic posts in the thread. @eeeeeeeee this is an actual reason to lock it, people have lives, and it appears xyzzy has nothing against, and no reason to lock the thread other then because it was off topic.

So, since i am assuming the thread cant be/wont be unlocked, just make another one but make sure it doesnt stray off topic.

Sry for double post, just wanting to address this.
The thing is, most of the mods cant 'get rid of him forever'.

Let people be. He will most likely leave himself if he gets no attention (that this thread is definetly giving)

I also slightly agree but i dont like the thought of someone joining the forums, some 9 y o or something, just some youngin nevertheless, and accidentally seeing what weird, inappropriate, things the person in question has done.
Your point of stop giving them attention is valid, but imo, less valid online, as unless mods can delete posts (which i hope they can), theres still the risk that his posts from the past come back to haunt new members.

Well said.

I'm locking this thread and moving to the Help/Suggestions forum. Please post any suggestions in that forum and keep Speedsolving on topic.

Remember, we're all here because we all share the hobby of speedcubing. Be useful, be helpful, and be kind to other members or you will be removed from the community.

If you have anything to report, please use the report button or DM me directly and we will handle it. If you have any suggestions, please use the Help/Suggestions forum instead of the General Speedcubing Discussion forum.

Thank you.
