i just received my DIY from puzzle proz with 2 tubes of lube.
note that i never lubed my rubiks before. i assembled the DIY and i worked it out. and then after lubing it i fell in love with it. but then i though: why not lubing my rubiks and use it too. and after lubing the rubiks. i got confused. the handling of the rubiks is much better(not diy). the sound is better(not like the diy plastic sound) the grab is better and it cuts more corners. (to note that the type A is amazing. no flaws)

any ideas, comments or thoughts? thanks

use your rubiks more i guess? i havce a very good rubiks storebought also which is weird because most people say theirs is horrible but mine and my friends' are quite good

yeah i used my storebought for a while after recieving my diys. once i broke them in though, i like the diys much better now. maybe you just need to spend a couple days breaking the type a in and it will probably end up much better

what do you mean breaking the type A. i assembled it and i lubed it and played with it opened it again and stuff. i thought that breaking in a cube only affects the store cube and is not required for DIY. any good ideas other than just solving?

I use a type D with old A core and store bought rubik's cubies... The cubies are well sanded and they lock up less than the D cubies... The only problem with a store cube, IMO, is the core... The cubies are actually good, but not comparable to A,C or F cubies...

Have you adjusted the screws on the type A yet?

Take off the center cap and loosen the screws until the side turns perfectly. This will also improve corner cutting. Odds are if you haven't adjusted them, you screwed them in until they were as tight as possible. That would make the storebought better for now.

BREAKING IN: to play with the cube for extended lengths of time.

Say... the same amount of time you used your rubik's storebought with?
-- I found the same thing for my DS cube; I liked it instantly but then went back to my old Rubik's storebought because it was better lubed and broken in... when I got around to breaking in the DS, I found that it was:
-- lighter, faster, more reliable (caps came off a lot though :(), and generally more awesome in terms of cutting corners/TPS capabilities.

TBH, I think the DIY would be MUCH better than the storebought, you just have to use them both for the same amount of time before making a judgment call.
