I was just wondering is there any difference in quality, speed etc. between the Rubik's Brand DIY they sell at their site, or a DIY a cube from a site like Cube4You. And which is better? Thanks everyone :)

I am so much happier with PuzzleProz than Rubiks.com for DIY cubes because the center caps stay on snugly on my puzzleproz without any glue. My DIY's from Rubiks.com needed super glue. I could not adjust the tension too well without the caps on, so after several adjustments the centers became raised with all the superglue permanently on them.

Puzzleproz DIY's SUCK.
There shipping and custumor service is horrible and not to mention there cubes even pop at the tightest tension.
IMO... STORE cubes > puzzleproz.
I suggest rubiks.com.

Really? Shipping for me came in like 3 days and the cube was pretty good.(though not as good as my custom White DIY or type D)

My green and white cubes from puzzleproz are my best cubes, better than the 3 black cubes I got from Rubiks.com. I hardly pop with my puzzleproz, and I do not have them set tightest. I have popping problems with any cube if it is too loose. The center caps seemed to be the deciding factor in my favorites. I got an order of 9 puzzles from puzzleproz in 3.5 days from Hawaii to Massachusetts. Also, he helped me in his forum, when I needed to adjust my 4x4 Eastsheen tension.

I admit that I have had problems getting cubes lubed well. I finally decided that "cube lube" is not as good as 100% silicone. Recently I replaced my "ACE Pure Silicone Lubricant" (from ACE Hardware) with "CRC Heavy Duty Silicone", and I think I have better movement when my cube is tightened enough to prevent pops. Unfortunately, my Rubiks.com cubes have messed up center caps, so it is tough to redo them (with tension) so they are on the loose side and therefore pop.

Rubiks.com has better quality cubes than Puzzlepros. the only complaint is the center caps but my rubiks.com is of better quality overall in performance. Do all you want to puzzle pro cubes, they'll be alright. Rubik's will take a while to prep but it'll end up better than puzzle pros. (i usually have my rubik's screws to the tightest and then use jig-a-loo to lube...it won't pop ever but it feels like its been broken in a lot and smooth like eastsheen cube)

Rubiks.com DIY cubes are plain bad now, just wait for the new mold.
I used Rubik's, but their DIY's from the end 2007 mold are just plain bad.

I got my 3 black DIY's from Rubiks.com in March or April 2008. In what respect do you feel they are "plain bad"? (The pieces have little nubs left on them that need to be filed smooth? Or a popping problem?)

Rama, after Rubiks changed their website and the store was down for a month or 2 at the end of 2007, did they change their molds or are they still using the bad molds?
