Roux help

You're using F2L to build blocks? That's not really blockbuilding, but in that case put down your bottom edge (like you were building a cross) then solve the two adjacent F2L pairs. The only time I would ever resort to doing that would be on your second block since you are more restricted and may not know how to use r and M and such to build it when you start out. Do not make this a habit; it won't help you in the long run. Try and watch some example solves to see how people put together blocks - your first one is really open for you to do whatever you want really.

If you go to Waffle's site and look under Step 2, you can see the various orders that you can solve the second 2x3x1 block. These can also be applied to your first block. All in all though, it does take a lot practice.

and don't rotate during the second block, if you get a flipped edge case (solving lolf2l style) do an r or M move to flip the edge and continue without rotating.

Block building may not come natural at first but with some practice it get easier and easier. One thing I suggest is do it slowly a bunch of times. That way you start to pick up the recognition. Also remember middle slice is your friend so are wedge moves, try to incorporate those two things and you'll start to see it get really easy.

it sorta defeats the purpose of using a blockbuilding method (that is fewer moves) It's not like it can't be fast, but you don't see big green or thom or waffle using f2l style blocks.

You can always change recognition.

you can always change tps.

it's not like fridrich users can't figure out how to build a 1x1x2
ever tried xcross?

btw, you're not going to win this argument.

I suppose you mean "... fridrich users can't figure out how to build a 1x2x3/block". In that case, yes, they can figure out how to build a block; but it's so much easier to recog pieces when you're looking for pairs, due to how F2L works.

also, I'll ignore that last sentence. The purpose of this is not to win, but to discuss.

First off, Thom is much faster than you, and probably has a much lower TPS.

Second, he didn't mean that CFOP users couldn't blockbuild. Re-read his sentence. In fact, he was saying that CFOP users can blockbuild. Besides, if looking for pairs is that easy, try viewing a corner-"cross edge" block as an F2L pair.

>thom much faster, but lower tps
nope.gif. his tps is much higher than mine, given I don't practice anything except for lookahead.

>"cfop users can't blockbuild"
yeah, I was just too lazy to copy the rest of the sentence >.>

Then why are you even discussing this... If you don't practice, let alone practice Roux, why push an inferior point of view? Note, I didn't say a bad POV, just inferior.

hey, hey. let's not put words in my posts. I said I didn't practice anything except lookahead.

Maybe he invented a New method, lets name it CRRoux. (Cross Restricted Roux)

The idea of blockbuilding is the lower movecount. Learn to look ahead for the second block.

Out of curiosity, what is your movecount for first and second block?
