Is Waterman good for getting good singles?

Is Waterman good for getting good singles?
Singles more than anything

3.99 was 19 moves
4.66 was 27 moves
4.82 was 29 moves
5.14 was 25 moves

Full waterman I believe gives you a 36 move solve or less probably 15% of the time (just an estimate not a guaranteed number)

It’s pretty easy to save a ton of moves

I know probably 80% of full L6E (271/337) so I feel like I’m getting there with efficiency. The very next solve after the 5.14 was a 33-mover but I dropped the cube at the end and got an 8.2 😭

Decided to start generating some L6E Algs where both positions in the R-Layer are just completely unsolved. CubeExplorer was just waaaay too slow on L7E.

I would like to explain to everyone why I haven't been active on here and took another hiatus from cubing again. I was going to film a video but I decided I was gonna do this instead.

In December, I applied for a scholarship that would earn me $10,000 a year for 4 years. It's called the Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholarship (Only available to people attending school in West Virginia). There is three rounds. The first is a preliminary application where you just state your name, high school, email, basic stuff. The 2nd one is a 150-200 word "personal statement" on why you want the scholarship. The third round is making a 2-3 minute video. I ended up being one of 24 students across the state that won the scholarship. This literally took like 3 or 4 months, to the point to where I couldn't film anything. I just didn't find the time.

I found out on the night of Sunday, April 13th, that I was awarded the scholarship. Everyone at my house and church congratulated me. Now that it was over, I could finally film again.

An unrelated topic is my grandmother, who has been in and out of the hospital since February. While I was at school on Monday, April 14th (the day after I was awarded the Underwood-Smith Scholarship), my neighbor called my mother and told her to get me, my sister, and my uncle (mom and my uncle are both teachers there) and to go home immediately. We got home to meet an ambulance, the fire department, and some cops, as well as more than 10 people our family is really close with. One of them looked at my mom and said "She's gone". My grandmother had passed away in her sleep while we were at school. This especially hurt because my mother, my sister, and I, had lived with my grandmother since 2010, and we were all really close with her.

Not long after, I turned in my school chromebook, which has been seen in some of my youtube videos on my Waterboy channel. This was because I was graduating soon. I graduated high school on May 22nd. So now I only had a phone, which meant that it's harder to film anything, even just solves because I wasn't able to get scrambles from cstimer like I always did.

From June 14th to July 2nd, I was in Tennessee visiting my dad. On June 23-26 (the middle of that trip), I was in Myrtle Beach. I'm not able to film videos while on vacation. Trust me I tried when I had my LukasCubes channel from a few years ago.

Fast farward to today, I have recieved my first windows laptop (my last non-school owned one was chromebook), which means that I can finally download cube explorer and generate algs, and not be at school. It also means that I can film again. The problem: I start University in a month (Move-in Day is August 13th) so chances are, I probably won't be able to film until I start Uni.

My schedule is actually pretty good. I'm basically in 4 different classes from 11am to 3:15pm (2 on Monday/Wednesday, 2 on Tuesday/Thursday). I have zero Friday classes, and 1 completely online class, bringing our total to 5 classes and 16 (not 15) college credit hours for this semester.

I look forward to University, and being able to film cubing videos again. Thank you.

Also I forgot like a bunch of L6E Algs, but I still average 11 seconds lmao

I'm so sorry for your loss.
You probably heard that same sentence too many times (sorry about that). Not so long ago (December 27 2023 at 11:12 PM) my grandfather passed away. I'm not really sure why it hurts so much even though I didn't spend that much time with him until a few months earlier. And of course, this happens 3 days before a comp which is also where I get my first sub-11 3x3 average. I don't know why i wanted to share this, maybe it would make you feel a bit better?

On the positive side, congrats on your scholarship! good luck for Uni as well! (looked at your recent posts and saw your 3.99 single which is crazy lol)
