Question about master pyramorphix

I bought this pyramorphix.

I once scrambled it and could not solve it. I disassembled it and assembled it back correctly and before scrambling and retrying the puzzle again, I first want to know whether this is normal:

* 3 of the four corners can be twisted freely, the fourth one cannot
* Two of the three faces connected to this corner cannot turn

Is it because of this that the puzzle is not solvable or is it supposed to be like this?

Yes, it is the very same puzzle. The corners are twistable - three of the four corners are. You're right about the faces; they don't turn, I was wrong about that. I meant the edges indeed. Some edges turn, some don't, it's really weird.

I'll try to upload a video tomorrow.

edit: is this a pyramorphix anyway?
edit2: according to the Lightake deal thread, it is not a master pyramorphix but a Mastermorphix.

Well, I mean, twisting corners is technically not one of the allowed moves on the puzzle, even though you might be able to do that just because of the way the mechanism is. It's similar to how you can twist the corners of a sufficiently loose 3x3x3.

And yeah, it's a Mastermorphix. The edges should all be able to turn; when you disassembled it, did you notice any mechanism problems? Pieces glued together, parts of the core not turning as they should, misshapen pieces - something like that would usually be the cause of things that should turn not being able to.

No wonder I could not solve it after three full days of trying.
Here's a video showing what's going on:

Didn't fully assemble it though, I tried my best to get it back to the triangular shape and then I took out wrong pieces and switched them around till it was solved so I did not see the inner parts. I'll fully disassemble it now and check for the things you said.

edit: just disassembled it and indeed: 2 edges were glued to the corner that could not move. No wonder I couldn't solve it to save my life. After watching 4 videos on how to solve one, I was already starting to think I'm an ass who'll never be able to solve this. :p Now to assemble it back again.

Thanks very much! :)

You clearly know how it is supposed to turn so I'm going to assume that you know that a certain layer can't turn.
It may be 2 pieces are fused together or pieces are just catching on each other stopping turns from being possible.
I bet the Tony Fisher Mefferts one doesn't have these issues :p

As QQ said, don't turn the corners even though you can.

edit - just reviewed the video again. The problem is clearly around that BGY corner. You should just be able to disassemble that region of the puzzle to find out the issue.

Many thanks! :)

As you could see, three pieces were glued to each other indeed. I wouldn't have thought about that; I never had any problems with puzzles bought from Lightake + I had never seen a pyramorphix in my life so I thought it was supposed to be like that.

NOW I'll be able to solve this! :D
