Purchasing cheap ($1) puzzles on eBay

I see some sudoku-cubes and pyramixes and snakes that are very cheap. Just a dollar or two. How solid are these? Will they break the moment you start fiddling with them?

Last time I checked they don't stock them (unless it's in really "nerdy" community like Boston or San Fran) without the "demand" for them -- not worth their time or money (or space!), so why bother??

I'd assume Meffert's would sell good quality ones at decent (somewhat) prices; if not, go look for chinese (DIANSHENG! LOL!) knockoffs on eBay (Rubiksfan??).

@abr71310 - Magics are all over the TrU's here in CT. Depending on which one you're in though you'll see only 3x3's and Magics, or you might be in one which sells 3x3's, Ice Cubes, Jr's, and Magics. That's about it though.
