Does the online community need to get back in control? I'm confused. about what to think about these piracy laws.

Of course you wouldnt steal money from a bank? Hijack a car? Without thinking about the consequences. Mostly we download without a care in the world.

Although we need freedom, we need strict rules as well. Imagine any country without strict rules. Your car would be stolen and nothing done about it. Pirated content needs to stop. PERIOD. I can't blame the government. The Internet was a privilege. And we squandered it away for free watchings of lost or downloading eminem. Now we must pay the price.

Do you agree?

I wouldn't hijack a car, no. However that is not what piracy does. To take your example, imagine that your car got stolen, nothing was done about it and it was still outside your house when you woke up. Would you mind?

Your correct, I gave a poor example. Piracy is duplication of material without owners consent.

Wait?!? Wouldn't that be monopolization. The owner claims rights to one thing and suing for duplication. That is a monopoly right.

I'm going to close this thread for the moment, so that it doesn't get out of hand while being completely unproductive. It may be reopened by a mod in the near future.

In the meanwhile, VincentLombardo, please hold off on posting any more (e.g. making new threads) about this.
