Protecting Cube Underwater

I did an underwater solve today, and it was actually a lot of fun. I want to get more involved in it, but I don't know how to protect the cube from rust from screws or other damage. I just used a Rubik's brand today because I don't care if it gets damaged. How can I use a better cube and not damage it? (preferably without disassembling the entire cube to dry)

Although I can not think of a way to fully protect a cube underwater, a good solution might be to instead purchase a few YJ Guanlongs as they are very cheap. I would imagine the problem with almost any cube is that water would seep into the gaps between the pieces that form cubies, so disassembly would most likely be required (of cubies at least) to dry it out. Lubricating the core of a cube with silicon lube might offer some protection to metal parts (if you use the high viscosity stuff). But I imagine over time rust will set in on any cube, hence why Guanlongs might be a good choice due to price. I myself have bought a few Guanlongs with the intention of underwater cubing, but haven't got round to trying them underwater yet, (the cubes themselves perform pretty decently). Cubezz sells Guanlongs at very low prices (I got mine from them). I hope this is of some help to you.

I'd recommend either using a cheap cube, or just switching out the hardware into a good cube and changing it back when you're done. I'm not exactly sure what cholrine does to plastic, but when I did my underwater solves, my cube was covered in salt by the end of the day :p

OK. I think I will get a few guanlongs, but I want to average sub 20 first (I average 24 now with CFOP)

I was thinking about that but sails don't come in stickerless (which I assume is a must for underwater)
Nah. Cube stickers are fine underwater. I overlubed my cube once and washed the pieces in warm soapy water, and the stickers came out just fine. Stickered cubes work fine, so just go for the sail.
