Here's my 3x3 and 5x5 progression, let me know how I'm doing please!

Single / Average / Date

3x3:

42.65 / 52.40 / Feb 11
37.92 / 47.50 / Feb 17
31.04 / 44.79 / Feb 20
32.36 / 40.00 / Feb 25
? / 39.83 / Feb 28
30.87 / 37.97 / Mar 3
29.32 / 39.02 / Mar 11
29.82 / 36.04 / Mar 15
29.42 / 34.72 / Mar 16

5x5:

4:16.23 / 4:37.11 / Feb 11
3:44.39 / 4:15.06 / Mar 3
3:18.50 / 3:39.77 / Mar 15

As of March 16th, I'm using Fridich F2L Intuitive with like 3 algs once in a while, 2 look OLL, and 13/21 PLL

So, how am I doing?

learn full PLL. You're doing good.

I'm trying, I learned the ones I deemed as "easy" and I'm leaving the G permutations until the end lol :x

You're doing very great, improving very fast.

Thanks :D

So my times are good considering my algorithm knowledge? Meaning my cross/F2L times..
Maybe I'll just time my F2L and post that later.

I don't know about the 5x5x5 (I don't know it yet), but yes, considering what you know, those are nice times, and similar to what mine were at the time (very recently, like Dec.-Jan. recently, too).

And your overall progression is faster the anverage, I'm sure. That's based on anything factual :P, but I'm sure others would agree with me.

You're getting about 1/2 a second every day on 3x3x3, that's great.
Just make sure you don't get discouraged if that slows down soon (it will).
Learn those PLLs, work on the F2L, and don't waste time learning OLLs until Sub 25.

Good progress. Frankly, the G-perms are not that bad. Learn one and you know them all (front/back mirrors and inverses). They are just slower to execute for most people. Leave the N's for last, they happen the least often.

I suppose the G perms are similar.. that makes sense..
And I never looked at it that way.. 1/2 a second a day is good :P
I know it'll slow down sub-30 of course, but that's alright, sub 30 average is my goal for now..

Thanks all

You're improving just as fast as I am and around the same time too. I went from 1:30 avg with the beginner's method to 40 second avg in a month's time with Fridrich. I know all the plls except for the 4 G permutations (if that's what you call them) and about half of all oll. I do most of the f2l with algorithms though, I didn't realise it was not recommended until it was too late.

Don't leave them to the end.
Contrary to popular belief, the earlier you learn them the easier they become to both recognize and execute.

I found that when I learned them last, it was hard to see exactly how and when to use which alg. I could do the PLL time attacks with G-perms, but in normal solves I choked and always did the wrong perm (since there's 4).

Look at it this way: If you learn two cases (ie. the ones with headlights on left, block at UF/FUR and UR/FUR) first, and then learn the other two cases later, you then break them up into steps first by recognition.

JUST PRACTICE THEM. They're really not as scary as yo uthink.

The scary ones are the Rs -- at first you think they're Gs and panic because you think you don't know them, then with an AUF you go "oh, wow, I'm stupid
".

Even worse are the Ns -- I remember at TOW I was doing AUF for about 3 seconds (not official THANKFULLY) before realizing that it was an N perm.

Learn the Gs ASAP. Save the Ns for last.

your better than me i guess? i use CF2OP same as you :) but i got full PLL my average is 37 something :D my best was 29.6.. good one :)

I actually learned the R perm's quite early..
I guess I'll try to do G's next.. Since N's are just driving me nuts trying to remember.. but Y isn't bad.. we'll see
But thanks for all the positive comments, nice to know I'm on the right track

I know all of the PLL's except for G's and N's now..
I took an average today and I did AMAZING..

The last average I took was March 16th, which was the last average I included in this original post..

My best time was 29.43 and 34.72 average

I just beat that time 3 times over..
with 27.17, 28.64, and 24.43 .. back to back, I nearly came.
That made the average 32.09, with a worst time of 37.37

Just had to share.. ^_^

Edit: Make that 4 times .. 27.32
