Hello people!

I just got back from my vacation in Macedonia. I am now officially a married man! Meanwhile, my home computer does not turn on when I hit the powerbutton. There is definetly electricity, and the I/O is switched on. When I open the panel on the side I find the motherboard looking fine except a RED LED light on. Guess that indicates some problem :fp

Motherboard: ASUS.

Plox help :)

First try cleaning out any dust inside the computer. Second, check every connection from the psu to make sure it is fully in. If you still don't find the problem check with your mobo user guide to see what the red light means.

There are any number of things that could be causing this. Just some general things to check:
  • Does the fan on your power supply spin when you hit the power button?
  • If you have one, verify that the setting switch on the back of the power supply is set to 110 or 240 volts. I'm not sure which is the standard where you live.
  • Try unplugging the power connector that connects the power supply to the motherboard, then hit the power button to discharge any power left in the capacitors, then plug it back in.
  • This can be a result of the built in short protection. Try the computer in a different outlet, (on a different circuit, not just a different "plug").

Edit: One more additional thing... Try removing the ram... faulty ram can cause the mboard to not boot. A faulty cpu can do the same thing. Try removing individual components if nothing else works. Most systems will power on even without a cpu or ram, they just don't go very far.
