Private Forum Application Thread

No, I go to Princeton.

That's good, I don't have to hate you on principle now :)

I think there is little more that can be said about this topic. Neither of us are completely right or wrong; our focuses and goals are just extremely different. If you wanted only the elite and were willing to change the goal and purpose of Speedsolving.com to achieve this then your application process would be perfect. Alternatively if you wanted to uphold the current goals of Speedsolving.com and were satisfied with a well rounded, and passionate, albiet possibly less elite group of individuals group, then my more open application process would work. Each are appealing for different reasons.

I just hope that the moderators consider the purpose and future of Speedsolving.com before they make any decisions about who should and should not be part of the private forums.

Yeah, because you're not really responding to me.

You're continuing to ignore the clarifications in my first reply to you. Everything I quoted of you here is either a misrepresentation of my approach or shows at most a superficial understanding.

I favor members who do a service to the community by contributing original content, not just be interested, have common sense, and avoid bad behavior. My clarification above shows that I define this contribution loosely enough that dozens of members fit the criterion. As I already wrote, exactly how much emphasis to place on development in this wider sense is a good point of discussion. But your current arguments are meaningless because they don't even address my points.

No doubt.

By the way, you never clarified how much experience you had helping organize 4 competitions a year or teaching 200 people. You've been to one Berkeley summer competition, so maybe you meant that you just started getting involved and will continue to for the next few years.

Hello, I started cubing the summer of 2009 and I joined the forums a year later in 2010. Back when I started on this site I was originally just going to spam this forum like I did for some others back then. That is why I made the username signature and avatar what they were, I was looking to get into Internet fights with others. I soon realized that nobody really cared or the moderators would be too strike to allow that. The more I posted in the forum the more enjoyable the community started to become. I really feel as if I am part of the community, not just the forum, I mean the community because of how I was approached at the most recent competition.

Although I had a noisy spammy past, in most of the last 600 posts I have tried to keep my noise making to the lowest I can at all times. I try to make myself even more aware to self noise making during any discussion that could be considered even remotely serious. I also try to alert the mods through the report system if it breaks any rule for this site. If I see a new thread written by a new member who clearly didn't read the rules, I answer his/her/it's question and politely tell there mistake. I have also only gotten 5 infractions on this site inwhich all of them have been for minor things such as using vulger language and reserve posts. With that being said I have never broken any major rules and have never attacked specific members. I actually try to help any member whom is being attacked that I think deserves a second chance.

I have helped with the discussion of somethings and have many great ideas for the cubing community many of which involve puzzle design and the solving of very difficult puzzles many of which are found on the Gelitainbrain puzzle simulator. When I make a thread on the cubing portion of the forums I do have reason in which to make it. I also compete in and run portions of the competition area of the forum which I think is a very important part of this forum.

The main reason I am posting an "application" to be in the private forum is for a big part just for me to want to know that the moderators and other important members of this forum to recognize me as someone who can and does bring value to the forums and information/support through my posts. If I do posts in the private forum it will be the most appropriate posts I can possibly do.

Due to the fact that I am posting this on an iPod, there could be a few errors. If you could please be kind and ignor those potential errors and realize that my iPod is my only means of Internet access at this time. If this is not accepted I would very much like to know who evaluated it. The only reason being because I feel as if there is is one moderator or administrator who doesn't agree with me and/or enjoys me being on the forum.

Thank you.
