I did quite a lot of OH solves yesterday (for me at least), 150 solves maybe in about 2 hours.

Now I have the worst soreness in my thumb. I have tried to massage it, but I think that I will have to lay low with the OH for a while.
How do you prevent this from happening? Not solving so intensely? Any tips?

Are there any other "dangers" with OH that I should be aware of?

Don't hold the cube so tightly, that could cause your thumb to hurt a bit. I hold my cube rather loose, and I've hit 500 OH solves in a day before, with no pain nor change in times.

One time at college i solved so much my hands felt awful. I honestly thought it was like first signs of arthritis or something....it went away lol. Either lay low or not it just reduce the number of solves a little and it will go away (probably).

This is the story of my first month at college. My left hand hurt so bad after a 1000 solve OH session... that I spent the rest of the week doing OH right handed.

But to answer the question, you should just not use your injured hand for a while. Give it a few days to repair, and then gradually get back into OH. I think you overdid it.

Yeah, I reckon that to do lots of OH solves in one sitting you have to work up to it. Try running a marathon with no practice and you'll see what I mean.
