Posture for Cubing

This is one thing I observed in the past month about while timing myself.
I tend to cube better sitting straight up, as in timing myself on a desktop,
rather than solving slouched over on my couch timing with a laptop.
It can be supported that sitting up is also healthier. I'm worried that at
my first competition I won't be seated as I'm used to, and that it could throw me off.
Or maybe that set up is better. So leave a response if you've seen something like this.

I used to solve slouching because I solve better (especially big cubes) when it's low and under the table, but I've been trying to change to upright because Felik's solves like that, and I think it will make me a least 2 seconds faster. So far, though, it hasn't been working.

I prefer to cube at a 135 Degree angle when sitting (I have done this since I can remember sitting in school chairs), but a 90 degree angle doesn't bother me unless I do so for a long time.

I noticed this same thing in school today when I was solving my (new) Dayan GuHong. I corrected myself immediately (whilst solving) and felt faster right away.
Posture is important!

Seriously, good posture is constant; otherwise you would hurt yourself. Whatever the good posture norms are for when you're taking quizzes or playing computer games, that's the norm for cubing. Slouching doesn't quite equate to good posture IMO. For me, I actually solve more comfortably sitting up straight since my computer keyboard is still near my hands when I do so.

I practice standing. Because I slouch when sitting with my low table which is bad but I do that for averages as standing average on video are silly.
This also means my viewing angle is rather steep. This gives me problems when cubing on a regular table as it feels like I can't see enough of U. My subconscious somehow takes care of the F face whilst I mainly focus on what's going in and out of the blind spot, BD, and planning ahead of course.

Also, if you're worried you'll not get similar seating at comp (like me) practice standing up and solve standing up in comp! That way you can have the cube viewing angle however you want.

So just because Feliks solves with an upright posture that means you have to too?

I agree that good posture seems to help with cubing (for me at least). When I used to play music our director would say that "good posture promotes good breathing" and oxygen to the brain can be a good thing when you have to think hard.

I prefer to stand in competition. I guess the only exception to that would be Fewest Moves, but for every other event I always stand for all my solves. I feel like I do better that way.

Hmm, my band teacher always tells us that...

You should try a test and sit at your next comp, then post results.
