Think you or your friend has a bizarre choice for a main puzzle in an event? Why don't you share it here.

I'll start off with myself. Recently, I switched from my Tornado to the Alpha Chun 2, which had less performance and hardware problems. the Alpha doesn't pop, it's light and controllable, giving the feel that it's sonic fast, and retains a cube shape quite well.

Anybody else with this funny taste in mains? Let us know!

I think you've already won. I can't imagine anyone choosing a more unlikely main than Chun2. Except maybe MF8 Legend with ball core.

Haha. It really isn't a competition, but I can think of weirder. Try to keep it serious.

I used the Aolong GT to get a 16.59 OH official average. If you told me a month ago that I would use that cube as my main, I would have said that you were crazy.

EDIT: while not as crazy as other people's choices, I think many people disliked the Aolong GT.

I used a YJ Chilong as main for over a year until I finally succumbed to more modern cubes (Yueying, Hualong, Tanglong, Yuexiao). I still enjoy solving on it. But this is not too weird, I guess. All my other mains are too mainstream to even comment.

I use an Aolong v2 for feet, which isn't weird in itself. However the way I set it up is rather odd. I randomly loosened and tightened different screws one at a time, then dumped a load of wt. 5 lube in it. So the cube is unevenly tensioned and (at least when I first set it up) very gummy. Somehow it fits me perfectly though.

And I thought I used an old cube but I just use a moyu aolong v2 (but a while ago i used a blue yuexiao)

I don't know if this counts but when I first solved a cube I solved on a rubiks original from a long time ago and then I got a rubiks 2.0 which I thought was like the best cube ever.

Would it be legal to use a 4x4 as your main 3x3 in competition, only turning the outer layers?

OH!

For a little while, once I started keeping a cube in my pocket at all times, I mained the 42mm Zhanchi. I quickly learned my preference for 55-60mm, but I actually got about as fast with that as I was with a normal size cube at the time.
