I have developed a alternative method to the roux method.

Step 1 Place two red pieces on the bottom like you are going to make a cross just leave out 2 edge pieces, but they have two be on opposite sides.

Step 2 With the two red edge pieces on the bottom finish the F2L, but don't finish the rest of the edge pieces on the bottom.

Step 3 Finish the top corners using any method you want

Step 4 permute the corners

Step 5 holding the two finished F2L sides on your left/right you are going to orientate the edges.(you can find out how to do this by visiting Roux's site.)

Step 6 Finish the rest of the cube.(once again visit Roux's site):D

This is just a Fridrich-ized/watered-down version of Roux that may be easier for those new to Roux or blockbuilding, which the first two steps of Roux is based off. There are problems like having an edge being in DB or DF, though it is an M move away from the top, that could put more edges down there and it also makes more places for you to search/recognize the edges. This is sort of what I did though when I experimented with Roux

yea i tried it but it confuses me so bad... the edge was in DB/DF and it totally thew me off... plus i saw white edges in the F2L stage and i always got the sensation that i somehow screwed up the cross. Either way, i don't see this having too much potential, but i might be wrong

I like the Roux Method. I'm just not particularly good at blockbuilding, yet. I think the part that kills me is the orienting and permuting the corners. I haven't learned any of the algs from the Roux site yet. The T perm helps in most cases.

After more comprehensive reading, I find that there is really nothing new to this. I believe it's more or less the same proposal I had made before. You're still having to position the DF and DB pieces, except that you're doing this first, instead of building the blocks first. Then, you're just solving the LL as you please.
